Hi everyone!

First I just want to say I was lucky enough to find this website and it's been such a great help through our journey! I found so much useful information that I could not find anywhere else.

Can't remember details at the moment but briefly: We filed our I-130 shortly after getting married, around the end of January 2014. I ended up receiving a checklist because of a misunderstanding - I hadn't realised I need to send in a police certificate even if I had a clear record. So anyway, finally I got my interview date a little over a month ago - interview date is April 17th. I contacted one of the three authorized physicians as soon as possible, I knew she is busy running for upcoming presidential elections (Northern Cyprus - I will be having the interview on the South though) but when I called her, her husband said she could still help on any saturday and to get my chest xray and blood test done here and here. So I got all my tests done, I wrote down all my vaccination records and I took the files to her office. This was at least 20 days ago, and her secretary was very aware of the whole process and I thought that was pretty positive and I felt relieved. So about 10 days later, I called and her secretary said she's very busy but that she'll remind her again. I emphasized my approaching interview date. Again, after several days, my dad called and he even went to her office to leave my missing pictures. Her husband took the pictures - which are now lost - and he said they'll call me soon. Again, nothing. When my dad called her secretary, she said my pictures were missing, and my dad told her he had handed them to the physician's husband. She said oh ok, and said she'll call us back soon. Note that up to now, nobody said she is not able to help me. So finally today, 4 days before my interview, I had my dad call her office again and her secretary said I should postpone my interview date because she won't be able to see me until the weekend! I think the elections are on the 19th or something. I mean I've been waiting for this since almost a year and a half, and it's so easy for her to simply tell me I should just change my interview date because of the lack of responsibility from her side. (I spoke to her on the phone when I got to her office and she didn't even apologize).

We ended up driving for an hour to her office so that I could either get her to see me before my interview, which did not work, or to get my files back so I could see another one of the physicians if I'm lucky. Today was Bank Holiday on the South so I couldn't reach any of the other physicians and I'm going to try my chance once again early morning. Postponing my long awaited interview date is obviously not my preferred primary choice! But considering the worst case, I was curious to hear people's similar experiences! Are you able to suggest a preferred date or does the embassy decide? I'm worried they will tell me to come after weeks! I also e-mailed the embassy to let them know of what happened and ask them when would be a possible date if I had to postpone my interview. They're usually quite responsive so I am expecting an answer by tomorrow.

Sorry for this long post! It might seem pointless, I know, but I think I just needed to let it out in a place where most of us have been going through a similar, long and at times somewhat difficult journey!

Under no circumstances cancel your interview you go when they ask for medical you tell them you are waiting for doctor to hand over the results. Usually embassy conducts the interview and you would be put in AP (administrative Processing) until you bring medical in. It's too hard and long to reschedule just go.

You say you got all test done. So go to the office and have them seal up your results. You can go to another physician listed and get your vaccinations that are missing. I would do that now.

Or what about the other doctors.

http://www.americanembassy.org.cy/IV/medicalInfo.htm

I guess you went to Dr. Seibel ? She has her head on the campaign still and is just not focused.

Hope you will get it all completed before your interview date, if not just go to the interview and submit the rest when you have it later.

Good luck for the interview !

Yes, that's right. Thank you for your wishes!

So today I was fortunate enough to get an appointment for tomorrow morning at 11.30am at Dr. Lakis' office. His secretary said my files could be ready by Thursday, God willing! So I'm excited about tomorrow, I hope everything will go well and be ready on time for the interview. The embassy also messaged me back saying they'd discuss my case with the consul and get back to me asap. I wrote back saying I will be seeing Dr. Lakis, and also asked about showing up at the interview without having a complete medical, and submitting them later once they're complete just in case! As you and dwheels76 suggested I could do.

Thanks so much again.

So I was able to get my medical sorted out with one of the other doctors, it took a day to complete everything - had to redo the chest x-ray and blood test thanks to Dr Sibel's bad job. Files were ready next day Thursday. Had my interview on Friday morning. It was super easy, my goodness. I was pretty nervous on our way to the embassy and while waiting, but the staff were pretty calm and friendly so that really helped me relax. The interview was more of a chat, the only thing missing was coffee. I am getting my stamped passport on Wednesday, hubby is flying here on Tuesday next week and we're leaving back together a few days after he arrives God willing. Can't believe it's over. :hehe:

I wish everyone here all the best in their journey! (L)
