Name Change Confusion

Hi

So ive been living in the US now for 4 months after we married in December. I have a social security card in my maiden name and also applied for the AOS in my maiden name. Now i am unsure on when im supposed to change my name to my married name? Ive read so many contradicting things on when i should do it so im really confused.

I have received the employment authorization card/advanced parole card also in my maiden name.

Also i was wondering do you really need to change your name? I wouldnt choose too if i have a choice but im worried how it will look to the GC people when we get to the interview process.

You totally don't have to change your name. Immigration officer won't care about it. Most who decide take husbands (or wifes) name just apply for AOS in married name, get their EaD/AP in married name and change SSN to married name. Then change name on driving licence, banks, credit cards and so on.

I chose not to change my name. Never a problem with immigration and we are totally finished now.

You do not need to change your name. I have not and will not. Only do so if you actually want to.

Only change your name if you choose to. There is no requirement to change your name for immigration purposes. If you choose to change your name, then you should probably wait until it is time to file for ROC because changing the name on the green card takes months and will cost you $450.
