On April 9, Breitbart News had the opportunity to talk with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) about guns and gun rights, and he told us that the Second Amendment “serves as a fundamental check on government tyranny.”

Cruz answered a question about the importance of the Second Amendment:
Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story described the Second Amendment as the palladium of our liberties. It is foundation to free men and free women being able to defend their homes, their families, their lives and liberty, and it also serves as a fundamental check on government tyranny.
As a follow-up to the first question, Breitbart News then asked why guns are important for free people?
Cruz responded:
America was founded on a revolutionary concept. Namely, that our rights don’t come from government, they come from God Almighty. The natural rights of man include life, liberty, and property. Each of those rights is dependent upon being able to preserve the safety and security of your own family. In fact, the very first Congress not only acted to protect our Second Amendment rights but mandated the militia act; that adult free men must own a musket.
Lastly, we asked Senator Cruz what he says to people or groups of people who respond to tragedy by pushing one more gun law or one more gun control?
Cruz responded:
I am a constitutionalist, I believe we need to protect our constitutional liberties and honor the Bill of Rights. One of the most dismaying trends of the last six years under the Obama administration has been the relentless assault–from the federal government–on our constitutional liberties.
Indeed, following the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook, President Obama could have sought bipartisan cooperation to target violent criminals and come down on them like a ton of bricks. Instead, unfortunately, he used that tragedy as an excuse to try to go after the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. I was glad to help lead the effort to stop President Obama’s unconstitutional assault on the Second Amendment. As a result, millions of Americans spoke up to defend our constitutional liberties, and every single Obama proposal that would have undermined the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms was voted down on the Senate floor.
In politics, lots of candidates talk a good game but voters are looking for a proven record. For two decades I have been proud to fight to defend the Second Amendment. Today is a time for truth, and we need leaders willing to stand and lead the fight to defend our constitutional liberties.

I agree with Ted Cruz, every free white male should own a musket as that is the only thing that will preserve our liberty

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

EXCLUSIVE–Carson: 2nd Amendment Needed to Resist Govt… with Semi-Autos, Not ‘Pea Shooters’
On April 10, Breitbart News had the opportunity to talk with GOP Presidential hopeful Dr. Ben Carson about guns and gun rights, and he told us that the Second Amendment keeps the government from dominating the people.
Carson talked about the importance of the Second Amendment:
The Second Amendment is incredibly important for a couple of reasons. Number one, our Founders felt that our nation, if ever invaded by outside forces, would be much stronger if the people could help repel those forces. Number two, and perhaps even more importantly, is if the government–our own government–ever became tyrannical, and wanted to dominate the people, the Second Amendment guarantees the people the means whereby to defend themselves.
At our country’s founding, James Madison described “the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation.” We mentioned this to Carson and asked him if it is still an advantage for Americans to be armed.
Carson responded:
This question was probably answered best by Thomas Hobbes, the English philosopher who, in talking about tyranny, said that the Americans would probably never suffer from tyranny of the government because their citizens are armed. This was hundreds of years ago, and we’ve maintained that tradition, and we’ve maintained our freedom.
We also asked Carson how he responds to people who react to high profile crimes by pushing more gun laws or more gun control, and this is what he said:
My response to such people is that they can push all the gun controls they want, but the criminals aren’t going to pay any attention to it. Only the law-abiding citizens pay attention to gun control laws. All you’re doing by pushing gun control is putting the law-abiding citizen at a disadvantage, as Thomas Jefferson said.
Lastly, we asked Carson about arguments for and against certain types of firearms, particularly as those arguments hinge on legislative efforts to do away with semiautomatics or certain semiautomatics.
Carson responded by saying that, after the trauma he saw practicing medicine, he was himself unsure of the value of having semiautomatics in crowded cities. But after further consideration and “looking at the history,” he realized there was no logic or virtue in opposing one type of firearm over another.
This is what Carson told us:
The real purpose of the Second Amendment is to allow citizens to be able to protect themselves against an overly aggressive government. In order to do that, they need to have any kind of weapon that they may have, legally. And that includes semiautomatic weapons.
So, if the source that is trying to dominate you has those weapons, but you don’t have them–if all you have are pea-shooters–then your defense of yourself is not going to be very effective.

In Jersey, A Flintlock Pistol Can Get You A 10-Year Jail Sentence

Where is there any justice in locking up a 72-year-old man for up to 10 years for having an antique flintlock pistol? I’m sure in the Garden State authorities can find frivolous reasons, but there really isn’t any justification for such a prosecutorial overreach.

NRA News’ Ginny Simone ventured into New Jersey to speak with Gordon VanGilder, public enemy No. 1 in Cumberland County. VanGilder is a retired teacher whose career spanned 34 years. He’s an admirer of 18th century artifacts and historical memorabilia and bought the pistol to go with his collection. The pistol featured in Simone’s report is approaching its 300-year anniversary.

Simone reported that Gordon was arrested last November while heading home after lunch. A Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputy pulled over Gordon for a traffic violation, but wanted to search his car. Upon discovering a flintlock pistol in the glove compartment, VanGilder said that another deputy wanted to let him go since he knew the firearm was an antique. The Sheriff disagreed. VanGilder was arrested the following morning, and faces up to ten years in prison; three and a half to five years of that sentence must be served before parole can be considered.

To make things more absurd, the prosecutor in the case told VanGilder’s lawyer–Evan Nappen–who’s in the video; that ballistics test will be run on the firearm.

This case will impact Gordon’s pension as a New Jersey educator, his ability to vote, and his reputation. He will be a convicted felon if the State of New Jersey is successful in their crusade against him.

While Gordon noted that he was probably in violation of the law, he wasn’t if he was going by the federal statute, which exempts such a class of firearms. The conflict between state and federal laws is a constitutional question. Maybe this case will settle that egregious discrepancy.

Yeah, New Jersey is still one of the worst states in the country.

The least you could have done was put that factoid in a spoiler alert so LIB could keep the rabble roused about all the inequity in getting charged with a crime for committing an actual crime. The party is pooped now!
