Lol.. No, they won't ask her to throw it. Just have to declare it and a long queue to clear it. As long as it is declared, it should be fine :)

My fiancee will be flying to the US shortly. She bought a box of dried fish to bring with her. Will US Customs make her throw it out? Part of me hopes so! lol

How i miss dried fish! :)

I brought dried mangoes and UFC banana catsup with ne. I regret i didnt bring much of the food im going to miss. I guess if she packed them very well it wont be too much of an issue, its just the smell thats really i think might be noticable, esp if there are canines hehe. :)

Check the official listing here to determine if it is ok to transport dried fish.

Fish is fine. My lola made me bring several pounds of frozen fish when I returned to the US on one of my past trips and I got through just fine.

Check this link:

https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/82/~/travelers-bringing-food-into-the-u.s.-for-personal-use

Make sure you declare it though. I generally make a list of all foods I'm bringing to the US while I'm packing and just hand it over to CBP.
