Making the poverty guidelines when USC doesn't work?

Hi all! Thanks for your help! I am about to marry my fiance in the USA (he's the USC). We will then file the i-130 etc etc. One question: there is no way he will make the poverty guidelines: he has been a stay-at-home carer for his elderly parents (one of whom has passed, and is still caring for the other) so there won't be any chance of making the $25,000(ish) requirement. He has some assets (house, land etc) and I have considerable assets (more than enough to cover the guidelines). Can joint assets (mine and his merged) be taken into account? And do we still file the form, even without him being able to supply anything? We can't get another US sponsor, sadly. It's just us.

some iv units will consider the foreign spouse's income and assets, such as london.

other iv units, such as naples, want to see things in usa account in usa petitioner's name.

please try to learn about the australia/sydney iv 'local rules' - study the portal [click yer flag] and look at the reviews

Thanks Darnell! Just went and read them all - there weren't any detailed ones but the overall impression was self funding is OK. :) I appreciate the advice. Any experiences would be greatly appreciated too if there are some out there!

Simple answer is a co sponsor or get a job.

You could contact the local US embassy and ask.

Is it in any way possible to move the funds? Usually, funds in joint names are ok if INSIDE the USA, so for example move the money from a Aussie account just in your name to a joint US bank account.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Find a co-sponsor. I am currently in college and not working right now. I was able to petition for my wife with a co-sponsor.

The joint sponsor doesn't have to be a family member. It can be any USC who meets the federal poverty guidelines and who is willing to stand as a sponsor.
