Hi,

You will receive the letter soon. You need to fill ds160 online. Fees can be paid online or in respective country. Medical exam- i think it depends of consulate and country. We were told to go for medical exam after receiving the package from embassy. Ask you finance to talk to the people in embassy when he/she goes to pick up the package.

Good luck

1. That is the default case status that pops up on the ceac website. Your interview date was not provided to you by the NVC. I don't know what the process is for Peru, but the embassy is the one that will schedule your interview, not NVC.

2. Assuming you now have your case #, you can do the DS-160 now. According to the Peru Embassy page on this site, you will need to have your interview scheduled before you can get the medical exam.

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Peru&cty=Lima

3. It is likely that once your petition reaches the embassy in Peru, the embassy will contact you. I don't know the process in Peru, but in some countries they e-mail the petitioner, while in other countries they send info to the beneficiary via regular mail. If the embassy does not contact you w/in a week of your petition being "ready" according to the case status website, then you should contact the embassy to inquire.

4. The fee process varies country to country. Some you pay via a bank, some you pay at the embassy on the day of the interview.

Unfortunately the Lima Embassy's website sucks (compared to other embassies web pages). It looks like it hasn't been updated in over a year and has nothing about K-1 visas.

In other words, at this stage, the process varies country to country.

Congratulations...... it is good news that your case is moving fast and is already in route to Lima!!!

If the CEAC status says "ready" after it says "in route", it means that the Embassy in Lima received your case and they are ready to set an interview date. In my case it took 7 days for the embassy to receive it.

If you want to be proactive as others have suggested, go ahead and fill the DS-160 now since you have a case number. You will have to pay the $265 fee for the K1 visa at the embassy the day of your interview.

You will definitely need the interview letter from the US embassy in order to schedule the medical exam. You will also need to get the 3 police records (they are not difficult to get, but make sure to get them as soon as you have an interview date). We had less than a month to get everything together before the interview so the faster you get things, the better just in case you run into any delays :-) To arrange for the medical you may need a few days in advance since there are only a few doctors to do the exam and once the exam is completed they need a few days to get the packet ready so that you can pick it up and have it ready for the interview.

You can see the list of requirements and more information at this link under packet 4 contents: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Peru&cty=Lima

Also, if you would like to contact the US embassy in Lima to get the interview letter and instructions via email so you don't have to wait for the letter to come in the mail, see my sample mail below (There are specific instructions for emailing the embassy. http://lima.usembass...ontact_us2.html ).

I actually emailed them the same day I noticed that the status change from "In route" to "Ready" and I received a response within 24 hours from the US embassy with the interview date and instructions (packet 4).

awesome info thank you so much, we are working on ds160 now and for the question under travel do we put the uscis number or the new one we got from NVC that starts with LMA

I put the petition number which is the USCIS number, but I believe also people have put the NVC case number and they had no issues since they are both related.

Ok we just finished DS160, and we are going to start emailing the embassy in lima yay!

Good... Did the status on CEAC changed to "Ready" ??? If not yet I should say you should wait until that happens because otherwise your case is still in transit and the embassy has not receive it yet and emailing them would be pointless until they have your case. :-)
