The woman I spoke to told me I could call back in a week for case numbers. She said they assign K1 case numbers pretty quickly (1-2 weeks) and send them out to the consulate after that.

I think I'll call back Friday. :)

You should try calling by the end of this week -- maybe it will have been received!

I will call later today. Yes you should definitely call back by Friday a couple of the August filers cases have already been shipped to their respective Embassies after being at the NVC for a couple of days.

I got to the point where I started imagining the worst scenarios. I figured they lost my petition, or that it was done so poorly that the officer shoved it into the stack of petitions that won't be processed until 8 months from the NOA1 date.

I thought mines was being used as a bookend. Holding up their desk or being used as a place mat.

Just reporting that I received the offical I-797 in the mail. Two things jumped out to me:

1. It says "listed consulate" but there is none.

2. A few paragraphs but nothing about what the next steps are to take.

I suppose it is just standard language and I am supposed to know what to do next myself? If I were not at VJ I would feel lost now...

Yes I am a nervous wreck. I couldn't believe that mines got shipped to NVC I've seen it take up to a week for some people so when I got the text my heart almost stopped as I thought maybe it was them saying hey we incorrectly notified you of an approval...lol :) Miami is really horrible I will be opting for Fort Lauderdale thank god I have that option.

Your petition must have had lucky timing on it :D

They have been taking about a week to get a case number assigned right now. Give it a few days and start calling. I called and made sure I spoke to someone three times a day until they had the case number for us.

So you're another filer heading for Florida. I never noticed until now when I read your post and looked. My POE may be MCO, but it all depends on flight prices and the best route (and baggage allowance) at the time we book. I've always had great experiences at the airport there, but they grilled me a few weeks ago when I went for a quick visit :o When you go in with a visa it's different though. You've already been approved and granted the visa. It's really just a check in.

Keep us posted on that case number.

Just to confirm: after NVC receives it, the three numbers we need are:

1. Case number

2. Invoice number

3. Beneficiary ID number

I want this to move FASTER already!

Yes, those are the numbers you need.

Totally get wanting it to move faster. Just yesterday I said to someone I feel like I'm staring at a toaster to make the bread go brown faster.

First your case has to been sent to NVC. You will get a text and email when it's sent it will say your case was sent to the Department of State for visa processing. Once they send it you should wait about ten days before calling the NVC for your case INV and Beneficiary number. You can't fill out the DS160 with out it. Also check with your consulate most people wait until their case reaches their Embassy before filing the DS160.

Just got off the phone with NVC they received my case today no case number yet I will probably call late tonight to see if one has been provided. The progress my case is making is unbelievable. I am trying not to get my hopes to high but goodness if there's no delay at NVC my case could be at the Embassy before the end of the month. Which would be the best birthday present ever for me. Wow the thought of that has me in tears. Good ones for a change
