Vancouver - long form birth certificate HELP!

So my fiance is trying to get his long form birth certificate in Vancouver where he lives because he only has the little card with just his name and info, not any information about his parents. The vital records people there are telling him they no longer do long form birth certificates and the one he has should be good enough. I know that can't be true because I've read interview reviews where people that didn't have the long form were turned away or had some type of delay to get the proper form. Anyone have any help on this issue or give me any direction that I can pass along so he can get the proper document?

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

He should be able to order it online. He can even have it expedited. I did this while living in AB.

I live in Victoria, BC and got my long form birth certificate from Vital Stats here in Victoria. It had parents names etc. etc. with the raised seal. I also got one of the new forms they have which is like on "filmy" type paper (almost like money) but not parents names etc. I would call Vital Stats in Victoria and maybe order from them.

Mine is on the money type one with both parents names and a see through spot (just like Canadian bills.) I got it in 2012 so I could change the name on my passport.

Apparently my old one was unacceptable and it was pretty much the same price for the long form and short form. I'm glad I went with long form!

I liked getting mine from Ontario. It actually had my mom's printing on it from THAT many years ago which was cool. It looks exactly like it would if she printed and signed it right now.
