OUR INTERVIEW! What does our interview mean? Just had today...

I am so disappointed. My fiance had his interview today. It went really bad. I've read of similar cases that have had things like this happen that have been approved though. Please tell me what you think:

My finace is from Egypt. He had to go to a room different than the others. All of the other rooms are next to other rooms and have translators inside. His was far from all the other rooms and did not have a translator. When he first went in the lady took the cosponsor paper and handed it back to my fiance. So they did not even look at our financial information! The consular officer was very harsh with him. He asked crazy questions that I have not even seen on here! He also asked very personal questions. For example, they asked if my fiance and I had sex. My fiance was very embarrassed and said no and blushed. The consular officer said, "I should remind you that you took an oath before coming." So my fiance said, "yes we did. I'm sorry I'm just embarrassed and nervous by your questions." The consular officer was nice and told him that he didn't have to feel that way because it was just them in the room but he appreciated his honesty. My fiance is kind of shy in nature and he was shaky throughout the interview. The consular officer pointed out his hands shaking and asked him how he thought the interview went. My fiance said it went okay besides the one question. The consular officer responded, "You seem uncomfortable like it didn't go okay..." My fiance also didn't know which hand the ring was supposed to be on so the consular officer was convinced we were already married....he kept saying that we were....and my fiance told him that we were not and he just didn't know the ring hand. The consular even asked which courthouse we would get married at! If we aren't even sure if he's coming how would we know? So my fiance just guessed. I know he should have just said he didn't know but I feel that everything looks so bad now.

We are under administrative processing. We don't have any documents to turn in or anything. They didn't give him back his passport though, which I heard means you are denied? So are we maybe approved? Or would they just mail him his passport with a denial letter or what?

I really don't know what to think. Please help.

Hey! We were excitedly waiting to hear from ur interview today! Ok we are not experts but we think that from what we've read your simply under AP! They took his passport which is great news. I'm sure ur just a bit overwhelmed right now and it isn't as bad as u think. He really should have asked the CO to clarify though...did u check the status on CEAC? Does it say AP? Good luck!

Yes, it's AP on the website. Thank you for your kind words. But why did he have a different room than everyone else? And why didn't they even look at the financial information? And doesn't that look bad that my fiance just guessed things when he wasn't sure? And even lied!

It could be bad luck that they got him to do this type of interview? Like, they can get, randomly, someone to do a harsher interview?

And yeah, it is bad when we try to guess stuffs or even lie, that may be the reason that now it is under AP.

Youre so very welcome! You know honestly they see those kinds of things everyday. Do you think ur fiance was the only person with shaky hands and a bit nervous?! Anyone would be nervous and they are used to those reactions from ppl. I dont know why he was in a different room but I do know that if he told the truth about that personal question then they shouldn't doubt his honestly regarding him being ur fiance and not ur husband. My husband just said to me "they are getting approved inshaallah"

True...I just don't understand why they didn't even look at our financial information and the lady returned the cosponsor information! Has anyone else has similar experiences or understand what the holding of the passport truly means? Has anyone with a passport held gotten denied? And thanks to you and your husband! You guys are too sweet. :P

After filtering out your emotional qualifiers and strictly looking at the

context of the interview and facts from your descriptions...

1) Sounds like they didn't ask for any additional evidence or documents. So this good.

2) They kept the passport. So this good.

3) Though challenging questions were asked, they were just questions,

and they didn't specifically say "we don't believe in your xxx story". So this good.

These folks are trained to sniff are fraud visa seekers, so naturally they are going to be

direct and ask very challenging questions...while observing his behavior and analyzing his answers.

Though I'm no God that can look into the future, while it was a tough interview,

I think chances are the visa would be approved...or in the worst case,

they will ask for more evidence.

Don't stress too much over it now. Just give it little bit of time for the decision to be made

and deal with the situation accordingly later.

Best of luck.

They kept the passport = good thing !

He corrected himself after he lied = good thing !

Don't worry about the 'room', evidently the CO just wanted to take it to a deeper level away and out of ear shot from others knowing intimate questions

would be asked.

Seems he is in AP which can last days, weeks or months, no one can predict how long, keep watching the ceac status.

Spoiler
