Hello All,

I hope someone here can assist me with my situation. My Fiance went for an interview today at the US Embassy in Cairo. Everything was fine, 3-4 questions were asked then the consular took her passport and said that they will have to do more investigations and they will let her know.

She asked if she wasrejected or something went wrong and the consular told he that she is not rejected and not to worry. I checked her case online and i found that she is under AP now.

Does anyone know how long this will take and what is happening here?

Thank you

Actually no one knows except those that are reviewing your case. This is common for cases in her country and is very frustrating to endure. As long as the case remains at the embassy there is a good chance of approval.

Thank you. Does it make a difference if they took her passport or not? What is the average of waiting tho now?

When they keep the passport it means they may find they may grant the visa.

Again no one can tell you what is going to happen during this A P period. It may last a few days, a few weeks or even months.

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

There is no "average" waiting time for AP, each case is individual. AP can be anywhere from a few days, to a several years and anywhere in between. No one can tell you or even venture to guess with any certainty how long it will last

Pray that her ap doesnt be long.

When they take passport doesbt make any diference.

i went to my interview on march 18, 2014 they took my passport and said: congratulations your visa is approved.

After 5 months waiting, they sent me my passport back without visa, then this year, after a year in ap they sent me an e-mail for a new interview on april 1.

Ap is a black hole, ap can be days, weeks, months or year.

All you can do it is waiting, after 60 days you can e-mail your congressman or senator office to try that they help, but you are going to get the same answer just wait.

So all you can do it is wait and pray.

Thank you. Does it make a difference if they took her passport or not? What is the average of waiting tho now?

That's horrible. I'm so frustrated same as my fiancé. They didn't even ask her except 3 questions. We had tons of paper but no one looked at it.

Did you have to apply again? How can you be twice on AP?

Good luck for the interview.

As many others have said, there is no way to estimate how long her AP will be. However, it tends to be that females have shorter AP than males so that works in your favor. Taking her passport does not indicate if it will be a short or long AP. I understand how frustrated you both feel since my husband's K1 visa application went through two APs that took a year combined. Hopefully yours won't be anywhere close to that long. Good luck!

If you are already married the visa will be rejected and your so called fiancee will get a denial letter with her passport in the mail. The US embassy is linked to the internal government system and they will find out. The case will go back to NVC and it will be closed due to the expiration of the petition.

If you are not married and you have submitted the adequate documentation it will be approved within a week.

Thank you for the info. If you don't mind asking, is this legit answer? Like are you sure of it?
