I'll be entering on a CR-1 visa. I've heard it takes about a month or more to get your GC.

Can employers accept your stamped CR-1 visa as proof of permission to work?

Hi,

When you enter in the CR-1, you will get an endorsement for an I-551 stamp. The I-551 stamp in the passport is a one year green card. It's your authorization to work.

You will need to get a SSN. The employer needs it in order to pay you and forward your payroll taxes to the authorities.
