Best Embassy Phone Number for Our Problem

Hi, this may seem like an obvious question, but I'm trying to determine the best phone number to call for our particular problem (which I posted about previously).

My fiancee received her visa package from the 2GO office in Butuan a couple of days ago, and the yellow sealed envelope had a big tear along the bottom, probably from someone dropping or mishandling the package along the way. We want to avoid POE problems, and many folks here suggested that we call the embassy to arrange for my fiancee to have the envelope re-sealed. She is scheduled to depart for the US on April 9, so we need to have this fixed ASAP.

I've seen a couple of different numbers posted for the US Embassy. One is the number for scheduling or changing appointments. Another is the main embassy switchboard. And yet another for US citizen services. Can anyone give me a specific number I can call to solve our envelope problem? Thanks.

Sounds like you are set on getting a repair rather than risk POE refusal by not getting it re-sealed.

Perhaps call the POE and ask them if they are not going to have a beef with the envelope as is so possibly no re-seal needed. If US CBP is ok with it then just get a name of the officer that might say it's ok as is or an email or something. Just a idea.

BTW rule of thumb is if you can get a hand through the tear you must have it replaced by USEM otherwise fingers no problems.

Yours. That's the experience that I have heard from others recently. We seem to go about 2-3 months without any problems then all of sudden we see ripped corners. Do a search you'll see this problem all the way back to 2009. Just head out the door, get on that airplane and don't worry. When you enter the POE just hand them your envelope and you should be fine. What are they going to do.... put in jail. Hah

I just spoke to the US embassy Manila on the phone. Normally, they would require her to give the package back to 2GO to send back to Manila, then wait for its return. However, when I explained that she already has her ticket to the US, they said that she should come to the embassy anytime Monday thru Thursday, between 10:00 AM and 12 noon to Window 38, and bring a copy of her flight confirmation, and then they will reseal (or replace?) the envelope as she waits.

Since she will have a couple of days in Manila before her flight to the US, I think we will do this option just to avoid any questions at the POE.
