They now say there are three US citizens among the passengers on the flight. The United States formally declared the pilot of Egyptian flight 990 as deliberately crashing the aircraft into the ocean. For, this and the obvious landscape in the world today it makes sense to consider this flight as having been deliberately crashed. MH370 has never been found, and the event happened right after the attack in Kunming China. Then, another Malaysian flight was shot down by Russia. The public is not willing to accept and idly twiddle thumbs when so many events are happening.

Not accept what? That standard protocol and decency is followed in this event? You might want to remind yourself from time to time that nutty fringe and the public are not the same thing. The former is but a tiny fraction of the latter - an odd one at that - and it is thus not a good idea to assume that what appears to be true for the former is also true for the latter. It most likely is not.

Meanwhile in the real world...

10.23 A source close to Germanwings said that the airline has a complete list of names of the passengers with their nationalities after the passengers showed their ID cards and passports before boarding, writes James Badcock in Barcelona.

But they are still in the process of contacting relatives so this list remains private information.

Note: The following liberal media source is provided for, hmmmm, well, the liberal folks out there have a lot of heartburn. That's a concern to folks who want them to feel better about all the anger, and animosity, intolerance and fear of varying opinions. Now, back from the sideshow:

Third American among victims of France plane crash

The U.S. State Department says a third American has been identified as a victim of the plane crash in France that killed a total of 150 people.
The department said it is in contact with the victim's next of kin but is not releasing the name out of respect for the family.
A person close to the family earlier said American Yvonne Selke and her daughter Emily Selke were also among the victims.
This is a breaking news update. AP's earlier story is below.
SEYNE-LES-ALPES, France (AP) — French investigators cracked open a mangled black box and retrieved some audio from its cockpit voice recorder Wednesday, seeking to find out why a German plane dropped unexpectedly and smashed into a rugged Alpine mountain, killing all 150 people on board.
The orange cockpit voice recorder — dented, twisted and scarred by the impact — is considered the key to knowing why the Germanwings A320 lost radio contact with air traffic controllers over the southern French Alps then crashed Tuesday during a routine flight from Barcelona, Spain, to Duesseldorf, Germany.
French officials said terrorism appeared unlikely, and Germany's top security official said Wednesday there was no evidence of foul play.
Remi Jouty, director of the French aviation investigative agency, said some audio had been recovered by Wednesday afternoon, including sounds and voices. He said it was too early to draw any conclusions from the recorder, which takes audio feeds from four microphones in the cockpit and records all the conversations between the pilots, air traffic controllers as well as any noises.
Jouty said the plane was flying "until the end." He said the final communication from the plane was a routine message about permission to continue on its route.
French President Francois Hollande, meanwhile, said the case for the plane's second black box had been found but not its contents. That was the flight data recorder, which captures 25 hours' worth of information on the position and condition of almost every major part in a plane.
"At this moment people are on the scene still searching," he said, speaking alongside German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy in Seynes-les-Alpes, the town nearest to the crash site. Most of the victims were German and Spanish.
"This is a true tragedy, and the visit here has shown us that," Merkel said.
Hollande promised that French investigators would do everything to determine the crash's cause.

I think the main issue at hand is that we are facing a tragedy that has captured the attention of the world - and rightfully so - and no matter how you shake it, there is no sinister angle from which to tackle it.

Reality sometimes has a knack for being so cruel in its simplicity.

****New York Times is reporting that information from a senior law enforcement official involved with the crash investigation stated that one of the pilots was locked out of the cockpit before the crash. He beat on the door repeatedly but the other pilot was either unwilling, or unable to open it.

Here is what the NYT is actually reporting:

Germanwings Pilot Was Locked Out of Cockpit Before Crash in France

PARIS — As officials struggled Wednesday to explain why a jet with 150 people on board crashed in relatively clear skies, an investigator said evidence from a cockpit voice recorder indicated one pilot left the cockpit before the plane’s descent and was unable to get back in.

A senior military official involved in the investigation described “very smooth, very cool” conversation between the pilots during the early part of the flight from Barcelona to Düsseldorf. Then the audio indicated that one of the pilots left the cockpit and could not re-enter.

“The guy outside is knocking lightly on the door and there is no answer,” the investigator said. “And then he hits the door stronger and no answer. There is never an answer.”

He said, “You can hear he is trying to smash the door down.”

While the audio seemed to give some insight into the circumstances leading up to the Germanwings crash, it also left many questions unanswered.

"We don’t know yet the reason why one of the guys went out,” said the official, who requested anonymity because the investigation is continuing. "But what is sure is that at the very end of the flight, the other pilot is alone and does not open the door."

Now of course, there is no need to think the other pilot who refused to open the door was doing anything more than having a personal telephone call during the beating and banging on the cockpit door. Otherwise, he surely would have opened the door. Or perhaps he was having a Kool Aid and didn't want to share.

Unless pilot went to the bathroom, leaving copilot to have a heart-attack on the control stick... these poor poor people were murdered. Officials have to know more than what's being let on.
