Well. Im thinking of my wedding.

I dont really know what to do.

Since i will be a newcomer, and i wont be able to drive and my fiance lives in a smaill town, i dont want my family to visit me for me wedding bc i wont be able to go out with them and visit the city.

So, in the beginning, i didnt want to do anything, just go to the city hall and sing, anything special

but now, i think that i would really like to do something nice, small, not big dress, and that we will remember for our wedding.

also, i want not to do a big thing bc im planning on doing a nice wedding with a ceremony on july next year, when im settle down and i will be able to drive my family everywhere (and know the language better)

my wedding this year will be around october.

my fiance is open to anything i decide, but he doesnt give me any idea, and i dont really know anything about weddings and i dont know how things work in the USA.

any idea about what i can do?

thanks for ur help in advance.

Depends on what you call small and simple, I suppose.... ho about renting out a small restaurant or tea shop, and having it there?

Or if there is a park you like, they often have covered areas (pagoda style) that you can either rent or reserve for free, you could have an informal ceremony and pic-nic/ BBQ style reception there.

well, with small, i mean, no guests.. I dont have any family nor friends there. And he only have very few family and no friends. So thats why i though doing something simple where his family doesnt even have to dress properly, or even go to the wedding.

I like the idea of informal ceremony.

Well, you could just wear the dress and get married at the courthouse (usually they have a small chapel or space). Or if you want to plan an intimate wedding there are probably many options available. Just a quick search of small locations in Wisconsin gave me lists of garden spaces you can rent or even B&B's. Here's one of them in fact, where you can have a 'just the two of you' ceremony, and stay at the B&B. ''Elopement packages'' are what you are looking for.

Wisconsin has very different marriage license laws than other states, where you have to actually make arrangements before applying and you have a shorter time frame to get married with it.

Honestly, just the two of us getting dressed up and getting married at "city hall" was memorable enough. :luv: However, I wish we had done some professional photographs of us as a couple (not necessarily on that day, but it would have been nice).

A lot of couples who do courthouse weddings do what Penguin suggested and have a gathering of some sort at a restaurant. It can be as formal or informal as you choose.

I've also been to really informal weddings in people's backyards - no need to dress up and BBQ for afterwards.

well, in fact, i loved the idea that yuna628 game me. Stay at a B&B and have a "just the two of us" wedding.

One of the places she suggested (Lazycloud) is beautiful. I would love to get marry there and spend a night there. It looks so intimate and romantic. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Now I have to talk with my fiance and see what he thinks. I would love her daughter to be part of our wedding, the thing is she cant stay at the B&B with us, Well, we will think of something.

Thanks all for your suggestions. =)

My suggestion [do all]

1. Find a buddy who is a licensed officiant.

2. Rent a moored houseboat there in madison for friday afternoon to sunday noon.

3. Get married on the houseboat friday.

4. Throw party on houseboat friday, make meal for 15.

5. Honeymoon saturday and sunday, throw out others friday night.

6. Monday morning, find officiant. Go to courthouse with him. File the thing he signed last friday. Pay for 3 originals. Pay for expedite or next day.

Houseboats are fun! Budget? 1000 bucks. Get creative!
