Police and Medical reports; sealed envelopes?

Hi everyone. Our interview is scheduled for next week. My wife has obtained the police and hospital reports, but I read somewhere that they have to be in unopened sealed envelopes directly from the police and hospital.

Any truth to that statement? My wife unknowingly opened everything, so I hope she didnt spoil anything that needed to stay sealed.

Never heard on here that those have to be sealed as they are her public records.

She can access them at any time so I don't see why them being sealed would make a difference.

Hopefully someone from the same country can confirm.

I suppose some consulates could demand that,

but I've not seen any posting like that in 18 months here.

That said, there is a sealed enveloped they will give to K1 visa beneficiary

to be turned in at POE...and this MUST remained sealed.

Lastly...you said "Wife" ... are you already married?

If so, why is this question posted under K1 visa forum???

K1 visa is for unmarried couples intending to marry in US.

A Japanese Police Clearance Certificate will be sealed. It must remain sealed for it to be valid. Do not open it.

I am not sure about other countries.

Since they are already open, take them to the interview. If they want sealed originals they will ask for them to be submitted at a later date.

Don't stress about it, everything will be fine.

Police report can be opened for Bangkok embassy but medical must remain sealed as directed.

See the packet 3/4 instructions for details. We interviewed there a couple of weeks ago.

They likely will require a new packet from the doctor. I suggest you obtain it prior to the interview.

Appointment Package for "K" Visa Applicants (K Packet 4)

 MEDICAL EXAMINATION: See enclosed Medical Examination Instructions. Do not open the sealed medical examination envelope(s). You should bring the digital radiography CD with you to the interview.

Your wife should not have opened any envelopes that said "do not open." Generally the medical results are in a sealed envelope. She should return to the panel physician and see what they can do.

A K-1 visa applicant does NOT bring a sealed, not to be opened envelope to the interview, a visa applicant filing for a immigrant visa DOES. Police clearance is not submitted in an envelope, just sent as part of the packet3-4 requirements.

Please, when posting, note the forum you are in, and the terminology used by the original poster.

You are in the IR1/CR1 process and procedures forum for immigrating spouses of US citizens so anything relating to the K1 process is irrelevant.

Don't worry, it was just a friendly reminder as it happens all the time in the forums. They really are two different processes and people seem to get confused easily between them. Have a wonderful weekend!

Where did you find that info?

It states that on the out of the hospital envelope and was reconfirmed via embassy contact just three weeks ago.

Posters: please remember that things are changing at the embassy and experiences from many years ago may no longer be relevant.
