Hello all,

I finally had my interview scheduled for march 9th 2015, I was so excited hoping they approve me on the spot and i can finally go back to Canada to visit my friends and family after being away for 2 years.

Night before the interview i checked online status and it says interview was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

I read to still show up just in case and thats what we did but they still didnt see us for an interview.

Im super upset at this. Why is this happening? And how long will it take? Did anyone have experience where they got approved with out having to interview?? Could that be the case?

Any advice helps. I hate so much being stuck in this situation of not knowing when and why.

Thank you!

It is dependent on which visa you came on and whether or not you received a potential interview waiver letter. No idea why your interview got cancelled though.

Just saw how you came into the country and how you got married. You WILL have to have an interview, you wont get a waiver, so you're going to have to wait for another appointment.

I didnt need a visa when I entered USA as a Canadian. I entered as a visitor.

Specifically, interviews can be waived for I-485 applications for:

  • Unmarried minor children and stepchildren of U.S. citizens (IR7 and CR7) that are accompanied by original or certified copies of supporting documents;
  • Parents of U.S. citizens (IR0) that are accompanied by original or certified copies of supporting documents;
  • K1/K2 entrants— Fiancé(e)s of U.S. citizens and children of Fiancé(e)s (CF1/CF2);
  • Natives/Citizens of Cuba filing under 11/2/66 Act (also spouses/children of such individuals regardless of their citizenship and place of birth) (CU6/CU7);
  • Unmarried & Under 14 year old children of lawful permanent residents (F27);
  • Cases where the applicant has been interviewed in the course of an investigation or field examination, and the adjudicating examiner determines that further interview of the applicant is unnecessary;
  • Cases in which there is sufficient evidence contained in the record to support a denial of the adjustment of status application.

Removal of Conditions..  TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK

Typically interviews get rescheduled because the file didn't make it into local office or they haven't finished all the background checks. As others said, you will have interview.

I didnt need a visa when I entered USA as a Canadian. I entered as a visitor.

Canadians get an automatic B2 visa when they're admitted as visitors.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

You will get your interview, I would just guess, you will be notified within a week to 10 days, from today.

Good luck, and also a swift date for the interview.

The weather was the cause I am sure.,..,..,I have paid very close attention to the weather, especially the north, very bad during that time.

long time ago... I got mine cancelled twice, both times I received a cancellation letter for unforeseen circumstances, so frustrating.

I was told by my interviewer (on the third take) that the district offices were scheduling too many interviews in the local offices and they had to cancel a few. It did not seem to be anything special.

Wow, thats horrible. I really really hope that doesnt happen in my case. I just want to get my green card desperately because i want to travel back home to visit. Its been almost 2 years. Otherwise I cant, because technically I overstayed and it would be risky to leave USA even with a travel authorization document.

Hopefully I get a new interview scheduled soon... But still nothing.

so when you were inside the building,

did you ask for a new interview letter to be generated right there?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
