Hi everyone,

I'm in a process of petitioning my mother from the Philippines. Does anyone know the average length of time it takes to process IR5 visa, from application to interview?

Also, my mom has an existing Tourist (b1) visa. I'm wondering if it's ok for us to file her IR5 application while she's visiting here in the states, or does she have to be in Manila the entire time while waiting for her documents to get approved?

Would appreciate your replies.

were you thinking to get her a green card via adjustment of status, instead?

I've been reading on Adjustment of Status process and quite hesitant to go through this route given the low approval rates, and the time it will take for USCIS to decide on the case. However, I'm not closing my doors for possible suggestions on how to handle my mother's case the best (and most practical) way possible. Have you experienced adjusting status before?
