I had my job in the first job interview!

I would like to share something to all the members here in this forum, to cheer you up, to encourage you - be faithful, never give up! (L)

I had my work-permit secured on 12 Feb, and received my employment authorization card on 23 Feb; I started my job search since then without G.C.

In total I sent out about 6 applications, 2 companies called me back to schedule interview appointment, and I told both companies that I'm in my 24 weeks pregnant via email, before the interview proceed... (Well, seems impossible to get any offer right?)

The first company asked if I have valid driver license and reliable vehicle, I told them I have international driving license that valid for 90 days, and I'll go for State's driver license exam & test within 2 weeks... the HR didn't reply... I feel like pregnancy discrimination as they ignored me because I'm pregnant.

The second company changed the face-to-face appointment to phone-interview, scheduled on 2, March (Monday)... I do really feel hurts and upset, as too many negative comments about how hard for immigrants to get a job here in US, and is even harder as I'm pregnant.

In the phone interview, I told the hiring manager "I wish you can focus on my performance, but not my bump, I'm pregnant but doesn't means I can't be an asset in your company, I believe I deserved an opportunity since I fit all your requirements, and I can commit to deliver my job in professional way." and then, the hiring manager arrange me for second interview with another person, the trainer.

In the second interview, (3 March, Tuesday) the trainer didn't mention anything about my bump, and we ended the progress in positive way! (F)

This morning, I went to 3rd interview, to meet the CEO. As this is my "first job" interview in US, I feel nervous, and I know my asian-english slang don't meet her expectation, but I do my very best to preform my professionalism throughout the whole progress... :luv:

I got a call from the company just now and the recruiter said "Congratulation!" over the phone, that really brought my tears down... They hired me as a full-time staff [Event Advertising Assistant], although just an entry level position, but is a role that I've been practices nearly 11 years back to my home-country, is a job that I feel familiar with, and this is a good start for me, who a mom-to-be with big balloon, a candidate that who have "0" working experience in the States! How amazing is our LORD, open the door in my first job's interview (although gone through 3 different stage..lol...)

I hope all members here who are unemployed or struggling to get a job, be faithful! Always remember that GOD's plans and timing is always perfect! Also to the ladies who are worrying about pregnancy discrimination in your work place, surrender all your worries to our beloved Father!

GOD is good, all the time!!

Yeah, I so amazing as it seems too easy for me to get back to the same firm and this is my FIRST job interview!!! I made research on lot of pregnancy discrimination and how hard for new immigrant to get job here in US and I didn't put any hope for first few round (and expected to learn from all the rejection!!). I'm glad that this company still giving me opportunity for interview, and even hired me in the end!

I hope my testimonial can encourage more members here! NEVER GIVE UP!!!!

Lol... I went to Asian Noodle House in Hoffman Estate, IL for Malaysian foods, and it's YUMMY!!!!

Congrats!i went for CNA class also and i finished it successfuly?i had my first interview today and it went well..i have another one tomorrow,i applied for two companies and they both invite me for interview,GOd is so good and i'm 5 weeks pregnant too?

Awww!!! Congrats and good to hear that!!!

Baby doesn't stop our contribution in work place! In fact, it's healthier to move around than stay home doing nothing!!! May GOD bless your interview and hope you can get the offer! Keep up!!!

The problem is leaving the loopholes for rich to get richer.
