K1 - Marriage after POE

This might be a dumb question but after reading some posts about beneficiaries' interview at the embassies, some COs ask if they started planning for the wedding.

Because it's extremely difficult to plan a wedding in 3 months, my fiancee and I were just planning on doing a civil wedding within the 3 month period, then have a "real wedding ceremony" maybe a year later back in the Philippines after she gets her green card and so her family could attend. Will having a civil wedding first be a problem in the eyes of US Immigration? Will that make our relationship not look genuine?

7/5/18 - USCIS CSC received

7/13/18 - NOA (I-797) notice date

7/17/18 - $680 check cashed

7/20/18 - NOA (I-797) received

3/11/19 - Biometrics reused

6/4/19 - Case transferred to Potomac Service Center  

10/9/19 - New Card Is Being Produced / Approved

10/11/19 - Card Was Mailed To Me

10/12/19 - Approval Notice received

10/17/19 - 10-yr Green Card received

19 May 2014 -- Visited! :luv:

26 Jun 2014 -- Engaged :dancing:

15 Oct 2014 -- I-129F package finished and mailed to Dallas

17 Oct 2014 -- NOA1 (email) TSC

22 Oct 2014 -- ARN updated

13 May 2015 -- NOA2 (email) :dancing:

19 May 2015 -- NOA2 Hardcopy

4 June 2015 -- NVC received (I think lol) Case number assigned.

11th June 2015 -- NVC sent to Bridgetown

16th June 2015 -- Bridgetown received

17th June 2015 - PCKT3 received
30th June 2015 - PCKT4 received

9th July 2015 - Medical (too many needles :/ )

21st July 2015 - Interview date :goofy:

10th August 2015 - Approved

12th August 2015 - Issued

13th August 2015 - Visa in hand via DHL

24th August 2015 - US arrival (POE MIA)

Not a problem I had a civil wedding and told I was going to do that followed by a formal one in around a years time

Removal of Conditions..  TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK

 

Time to reset the tick tock clock again.   Roll my eyes.

 

GC  Conditional date:  05/26/2015

N400.  Application:      02/28/2018       

Biometrics:                    02/22/2018

 

Waiting............    Roll my eyes again :(

 

USA citizen as of 25th of July 2018. :)

A civil ceremony is fine, many do what you are planning to do; do a quick civil marriage in the USA, they do a big "wedding" in the Philippines. All is fine. :thumbs:

Civil marriage is officially recognized in US, and it should NOT be a problem.

Your answer as described should be fine.
