Muslim Costco employee refuses to touch pork; sues after getting transferred to different department

A Muslim former employee has filed a lawsuit against Costco accusing the the wholesale giant of discriminating against him because he refused to handle pork or alcohol products.

The man, Jean Camara, told ABC 7 New York that he was moved from cashier’s assistant to gathering carts outside when he informed his employers that he couldn’t work with pork or alcohol due to his religious beliefs.

“Just because you have a different belief, that doesn’t give anybody the right to treat you different,” Camara said.

According to Camara, his superiors at the Brooklyn Costco never told him why he was reassigned — although it’s strange that he couldn’t figure that out on his own after complaining he couldn’t handle certain products.

He said he asked his bosses if he could work in the electronics department but his request was denied.

Camara filed a human rights complaint against the company and was fired 16 days later for “insubordinate conduct,” according to ABC 7.

So then ALL PARTIES SELLING PORK or ALCOHOL must have ;

1. Pork Free / Alcohol Free Carts - Segregated from Normal Cartons available

2. Pork / Alcohol Prohibited Cash Registers and Check Out Lines

3. Dedicate Pork / Alcohol Free Cashiers - cannot cross contaminate

Extend the metaphor and you'll find the need to have Muslim-Only supermarkets, hotels, malls, on the basis

for the proximity or risk of touching, smelling, or being in proximity to a pork product.

Also, wait for the Muslim Only hospitals. Lawsuits against Forensics Departments and County Medical Examiners where non-Muslims touched a muslim body.

There is really no endpoint to Freedom of Religion.

a. Special Disclosures required for houses that have had pets in them in the past ? State databases of which houses had pets in them so a muslim doesn't accidentally buy/lease a house like that.

b. Lawsuits against hotels for having allowed a pet in a room for a muslim before or where a former guest ordered/ate pork products in the room.

Again, no limits.

Non-Muslim pharmacist might have had pork for lunch. Must have dedicated line for Muslims so only Muslim pharmacy tech and pharmacist fill order.

What happens is every religion's orthodoxy begin to bring cases such as these:

1. Employer made me work on Sunday ?

2. Pork residue on headset at call center from the last pork eaters.

3. You allowed unmarried non-virgins in the same school with my child. Better make separate classrooms for all unmarried sinners.

Freedom of religion? You mean this?

The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances.

It provides for the freedom to exercise your religion like a party. You know, a party where you invite folks to come and bring stuff and consume it, and whatever. It does not provide for the right to force everyone any where near you to be a part of your party and participate in it whether they like it or not. Just like the bedroom, go in, shut the door and do your thing. The neighborhood isn't forced to participate unless their into that sorta thing.
