Fee for late filing of I-765?

I have a question about the filing fee and form fee for the I-765.

At the time that we filed for AOS and all that fun stuff my wife was pregnant and did not want to work.

A short time after, we lost the baby. Its been a 7 months and the last thing we have heard from USCIS is that

because of increased workload not related to our case we should hear something by July. We filed last summer

and its been a long wait just to get the hurry up and wait letter.

Which brings me to my question. My wife would now like to work and we are going to file the I-765. If filed at the

same time as the I-485 there was no fee. At the time, it wasnt something we wanted to do. Things have changed.

Now, with the delay in handling our case, is there a fee still required? Reading the instructions, it isnt clear.

If someone has more info on this I would appreciate it. I called the service center just after 6pm and they were

already closed for the evening.

just for reference... my wife received the same notice. It took 11 months for her to receive her GC. You can call and check the status. example...when we called early Jan 2015. They told us they were working on Feb 2014 files. We submitted our AOS March 2014.

Hope this helps as a reference... I know each case is different.
