Letter of Intent - Should be 30 days

I am posting this as this might be of help to others.

I had my interview this morning at the US Embassy in Vancouver. Everything went well. The visa officer just asked basic questions about the relationship. At the end of the interview, he said that my visa is approved but I need to send an updated Letter of Intent from the Petitioner. As part of the procedure, the said letter should be not more than 30 days old from the date of interview.

He said, a scanned copy would do. They kept my passport. So I informed my fiance to send it to me, and in the next hour, I emailed it to the embassy. Fingers crossed, in the next 3-5 days my visa would be issued.

Congrats on your approval!! Just keep in mind that different consulates have different requirements so Vancouver and Montreal may ask for something dated like that while other countries may not.

And did you you have to submit that letter at the NVC stage? How can it be a 30 day window when it takes so much longer than that. Perhaps good advice would be to bring another letter with you to the interview as a backup/additional piece in case they want one from each of you?

We submitted initially both for me and fiance.

In January, I completed the requirements for Packet 3 (which requires an updated Letter of Intent from only the petitioner), but the website was down when I got my Packet 4. It took me another two weeks to be able to book and another 3 weeks out for the actual interview date.

So my Letter of Intent, that I needed for the interview is actually a month and 5 days old

Very strange he wanted an updated LOI from Petitioner, It is part of the I-129F application.

either CO was new or this may be a new policy at your embassy.

I also had a letter of intent from my fiancee with a newer date on it at the interview, but no one asked for it in Moscow. So i guess it varies depending on the consulate and the country where the interview is being held

The one they wanted that shouldn't be older than 30 days is not the one you sent with your I-129F package. At the interview they want you to bring a new one to prove that you are still intending to get married within the 90 days of coming to the states on the visa.
