Postman sucks - may have returned my K1 NOA1

Hey guys, I just filed a little over a week ago and have had trouble with the post ever since. I'm afraid my first NOA might not be delivered. Is there a way to check status without a receipt number? My check has not been cashed yet so I'm assuming the case is still under review...but then again it could mean they rejected it! Such a stress this process is.

Dont worry if they havent cashed the check, that mean thaey havent opened your packet.

Wait a little more.

Patience is the key in this process.

If you are inpatient only for a week, figure if you go to tscc , if your petition go to tsc , you will wait a long time to see your noa2.

There are people here waiting their noa2 10 or 11 months.

Oh my concern is not that how long it takes. I have concern over if my stupid postman will deliver it. He has been sending everything I rcv back to sender!! So my question was more of, if my noa is returned and I don't have a receipt number, can I still check up on it done how? Also, I'm moving in two weeks so I'm a bit nervous that I'll scree things all up!

I would say make sure your name is on the mailbox for starters. Then call or visit the postmaster at the post office assigned to your address and discuss the problem.

However if you are moving in two weeks, then you may be screwed anyway because USCIS mail is not forwarded. Wondering if you already filed a mail forwarding with the post office preparing for your move and that is why the mail is not arriving??

Wait a while longer and then the USC (guessing you) can call and enquire at uscis, they'll be able to tell you the case number over the phone once it's been checked in.

Did you send the form to recieve email and text update once it's been accepted?

I have had Tons of conversations with them. USPS has no accountability. I just spoke to them today and made it clear that my mail should not be returned. I am the property manager for goodness sakes! There is no reason it should ever be returned. Anyway, I've not put in a fwd address yet and am hoping I'll get the noa1 before I move. Keeping my eye on things in the meantime.

Did you fill out a G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance when you sent your petition? If so, you will receive a text message or email notification once they receive your petition. It will state your receipt number and you can check your status at the USCIS website directly. It will give you instructions on how to both change your address with USCIS as well as what to do if you haven't received your notice.

I agree that if they haven't cashed your check yet you shouldn't worry. They are sure to scoop those checks out of our packages and cash them immediately!

I think you are mixing 2 different problems.

Little over a week is still within normal processing time.

You need to wait a little more.

Also, its very unusual that they would return mails.

How do you know this is happening if you never received it?

Make sure you have your name(s) on your mailbox.

If it has been a major problem, then perhaps wait for the mailman

and speak to him in person.

lol well I am hoping to have fixed the issue after a talk with the postman, and I will give it a while longer before calling for an update - and yes, I did sign the authorization for them to email updates, so I will be patient and wait I guess - I was just freaking out for a moment there.

It's good to be on top of everything, but learn the expected timeline on each step of the processing,

and set your expectations accordingly, otherwise, this processing can drive folks crazy.

Don't stress too much, last week I was in the same situation, we mailed ours on the 11th and they did not receive it till the 23rd. We got our NOA1 on the 27th received it in the mail this past Monday so give it some more time. Good luck

I hope it doesnt happen but if you loose your mail , you can put the tracer for your cheque, the details of cheque will come up like when and where it was cashed and they will also tell the case no. Under which it was cashed ( the case no. Of ur application )

Thanks Nick! Great advice. They just cashed my check so this is the best day ever! And yeah, I'm afraid I'll be checking for updates every single day floor the next six months. Must not think of visa app... Must not think of visa process.
