I believe Sears do. I have no idea about others. Just give a quick visit there and ask about that.

Great! Let me know how it works. I am just waiting for my green card to apply a credit card since my husband will co-signed for me and he is satisfied with his banks, lol.

Have you tried Bank of America (BoA)? I only had my EAD and was waiting for my Social Security number when I went to BoA. They let me open up a checking account (minimum deposit of $25) and I got a secured credit card as well

All I had to do was to give them my foreign passport & EAD card, then update BoA with my SSN when I receive my SSN card.

Not sure if it's an issue, but I told the bank that even though I was waiting on my Green Card and SSN, I already had a job and the bank account was for my direct check deposit.

10 July 2014 (Day 1): I-485, I-130, I-131 I-765 mailed to Chicago Lockbox.

15 July 2014 (Day 5): Email & SMS Notifications from USCIS for each form filed.
18 July 2014 (Day 8): All 4 NOAs received in mail
1 August 2014 (Day 22): Completed walk-in biometrics successfully
13 August 2014 (Day 34): I-485 moved to Testing and Interview
19 August 2014 (Day 40): Reached out to congressman's office to request for expedited EAD based on job offer
25 August 2014 (Day 46): Called USCIS's office to put in request for expedited EAD processing
26 August 2014 (Day 47): Congressman's office called and informed that I-131 post decision activity, I-765 card/document production (successful expedite request)

28 August(Day 49): USCIS ordered production of I-765 EAD

6 September 2014 (Day 58): Received EAD/AP combo card

27 January 2015 (Day 201): Successfully completed interview

8 February 2015 (Day 211): 2-years conditional green card in hand

I got a secured credit card through First Progress. I sent them $500 to open an account and then got a second one a few weeks later with another $500. They will go as low as $250 I think but I'm not certain. As soon as I used those for about 2 months I was able to get a non-secured credit card. My credit is slowly getting better. I have several cards now and pay them all off each month. Paying them off entirely is good but not good enough to pull your rating up very high as the length of time you have credit comes into play as well.

If you set up a credit karma.com account it will actually show you a list of good cards based on your own situation.

Have him add you as an authorized user on his card. Even if he cuts up the card, it will start spooling the trade line to the 3 major bureaus and you will appear to have developing credit.

This also lets you show a much larger line that you are likely to have with a securitized card.

If your husband does not have the credit, then ask him to have a family member add you to a clean decent sized credit line as authorized user, give them the social, when the family member gets the card. Activate it .. then cut it in half. They don't have to give it to you. You just want the credit report to show the activity.

After about 6 months of that nice Authorized User revolving spool, consider adding a store card. You can bypass the entire secured credit card game.

Remember that many utilities will pull (whether soft or hard pull) but few actually spool a trade line as a Credit Card or Card Lease would.

They need to be added as a Joint Account Holder, If you just add them as a Authorized User they get zero credit history.....

Oh I see. Each bank has their own requirement. Better to try apply for department store card like Sears. They do always offer and see if they will accepted yours without a green card.

Sears is not easy to get. Years ago when I was early 20's Sears was the way to go to establish Credit.

Best Way:

Secured Card, Getting added on as Credit Card Joint Account with someone with good credit, Put some bills in your name, Lights, Water, etc......

Not all secure card lenders will open. When i got here in the early 2000's capital one would not even give me a secured credit card. Bank of america had a different name back then, but was able to pull my canadian credit score and give me an unsecured card for a couple of thousand. Still pissed at Cap One over that, to be honest.

Good luck!

?? Authorized users still spool to the bureaus for most revolving cards.

FICO and Vantage 1.0 and 2.0 still will use the A users in the score. I read some debate on whether Vantage 3 .0 was smart enough to no use them but I don't know the answer on 3.0 for sure.

How confident are you in your statement?

Very Confident.

I have 6 authorized users on my credit card, It is my business card in my name and business name, I have added them.

I am sure they don't get to share credit score.

I added my husband as an authorized user to my Chase MasterCard, Macy's, and (I think) Discover. The cards have his name on them, but it is my account and he can not call and discuss the account as an example, because it is not joint, He got a credit rating in his name that way. He found out by doing free credit report. It showed those cards on his credit report.

His first card in his name was Target where he applied at the register and was approved for $500 instantly.

I am sure they don't get to share credit score.

Small business revolving cards don't spool monthly to the bureaus. They only spool if they charge-off.

I verified what I wrote in the former thread with Press releases by the bureaus and score development company and my statements were accurate.

FICO through version FICO 08 - Authorized user spooled trade lines are used - limited exception: FICO 08 multiple A spools that trigger a proprietary piggyback detection algorithm would be removed from score evaluation but legitimate Authorized user trade lines will still be reviewed.

Vantage 1.0 and 2.0 - Authorized user spools reviewed in scoring.

Vantage 3.0 - Claims algorithm to consider piggy back Authorized score vs. non-piggy back.

So..... without knowing what exactly triggers the algorithm and which score model/release the credit uses, the answer can be both YES and NO.

I still think having 1 or 2 authorized user lines is good, just in case you have a situation where there could be a mild benefit. At the very least it begins the TIME IN BUREAU, OLDEST TRADELINE, LENGTH OF TIME AT ADDRESS, etc. clocks
