I like this direction the court is taking. I am looking forward to the day I can shop at Walmart sans clothing without them calling the constabulary.

Why would a conservative muslim (wearing headscarf) want to work in A&F which sells skimpy clothes?

It is like a muslim trying to work in restaurants/grocery stores selling beers and pork, then turns around sue the restaurants for selling those stuff against his/her religion belief.

Baseball cap wearing folks sit over there please. Yarmulke wearing folks please exit to the cafe deli in France where you'll be met by....

The federal civil rights law known as title VII requires employers to make accommodations for employees' religious beliefs in most instances. Dvoretzky said the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, representing Elauf, wants employers to treat people differently based on religion, "which is precisely the opposite of what Title VII wants."
That provoked a sharp reply from Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. "Title VII requires them to treat people who have religious practice differently. They don't have to accommodate a baseball cap. They do have to accommodate a yarmulke," Ginsburg said, referring to a Jewish skullcap.

I listened to a report on this case on the drive to school yesterday. The young woman actually wore A&F frequently, and had been employed at other clothing retailers like Old Navy and Forever 21, both before and after the incident. Not everything A&F sells is skimpy -- I am An Old and I have a very cute and respectable red pea coat from there. To say a conservative Muslim could never work at a place that sells skimpy clothing would effectively put their employment at major retailers like Macy's, Target and The Gap impossible.

Also, the case is a little more complicated than, "Imma show them, those lookist jerks at A&F!" The young woman was recommended as a potential employee by a friend who was already employed there. She interviewed with an assistant manager, who liked her and wanted to hire her for the job. She had been assured by the friend that the headscarf wouldn't be an issue, and it never came up during the interview. Ultimately, someone with authority over the person doing the hiring said no, we can't hire her because it doesn't comply with our company dress code. The only reason why she knows this is because that info filtered down to her through the friend. So she was found to be suitable for the job, but for her religious headgear.

Will the young woman be ok not to wear headscarf if she was told she can't wear that at work?

I like this direction the court is taking. I am looking forward to the day I can shop at Walmart sans clothing without them calling the constabulary.

In general I do strongly support letting people wear what's comfortable

to the culture/religion they are used to, but in this case, the store was

looking for a particular clothing fashion trend...So~ooo...I don't know about this one.

Think of Hooter's wanting to hire someone...I'm not sure they would go for the headscarf...
