This doesn't mean anything. Nothing negative at all. AP for males make take 4 weeks to 6 months and in special cases may even take longer. You can never find out what's going on when someone is on AP and all you can do is wait and patiently wait hoping all is going well. Sadly that's all can one do during AP.

But there's more to this story..in january they sent email saying that my husband was in another country for 4 yrs & and if he wasnt they wanted to know what was he doing in bangladesh these 4 yrs but he was in bangladesh his whole life so I emailed them paper works for his business which he does in bangladesh after that they emailed me saying the ap is pending & and they will contact me after the ap is finished. So my question is where did they get this false information from?

wow, that's really weird,...maybe they did one of their "muslim name checks" and found a similar record for your husband. but i'm happy to hear that it seems that accusation is resolved. yes, they respond to my emails with concerns for his safety in this time with this standard, ap response....

Dear XXXXX,

Thank you for contacting the U.S. Embassy, Dhaka.

This is in response to your inquiry of February 24, 2015.

We completely understand your frustration in this regard. Review times vary due to factors beyond our control and we are unable to expedite or speculate about review times. We will contact the applicant as soon as the additional processing is completed. We appreciate your patience and understanding regarding this matter.

We recommend that applicants not make any final departure plans until they have their visas in hand.

We hope the above information is helpful.

Sincerely,

AP is done for security checks, name checks, background checks, document verification and field investigations.

Several agencies can do checks on your case one after the other and yes, some are backlogged and that is why the embassy can

not predict when it is complete.

There is nothing you can do except send an email once in a while to check on your status and check the ceac site.

Our case was in AP for 16 months so I know how frustrating it is with the uncertainty of not knowing when it's over.

Everyone's AP time is different and they will not tell you what they are checking.

I have read of this "AP" several times, and it would seem to be a painful process, to the people involved.

Does anyone know what is the one thing that "triggers" this thing called, "AP?"

Or can it be many things.,.,,.

Many things......Mena countries/beneficiaries, fraud indicators (on fraud referral sheet) such as large age difference,

short relationships or short time between last and current relationship, short face time, previous petitions or applications, document verification, high fraud posts etc....all can trigger AP or internal review.

My husband and I feel your pain...Our case has been in AP 261 days. Bangladesh embassy won't respond to emails, except the standard form response. We are in the same waiting process. I've called NVC and they said there's nothing else needed, everything's fine, just have to wait for administrative processing but they don't know how long that is, Supposedly. I think either they're very backlogged or/and they are outright descriminating! :ranting:

They aren't discriminating. When someone is in AP information has to be verified and if record keeping isn't very good it is difficult for the consulate to confirm. That is why AP takes longer in certain countries.
