Hi all

I am hoping to find someone out there with experience with the consulate in RDJ

My petition was approved for expedited processing on Feb 4th 2015 and received by the consulate on Feb 9th. There is no phone number that accepts calls about visas and I have sent multiple emails without response.

I just got an email from their office confirming my interview for April 24th 2015, and another confirming my interview on March 30th 2015. Considering my expedite was granted because of an emerging medical situation it seems like both of these dates are VERY far away.

I am totally lost and desperate and don't know what to do. I have already emailed the consulate about the situation (as well as requesting to confirm the actual interview date) but am afraid that I won't get a response.

Is there any way to get in touch with RDJ about visas via telephone?

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I did,

As well as read all of the info there :)

They no longer accept calls about visas, you can only get through if you say it is an emergency involving a US citizen.

Thanks!

Once I had to e-mail the consulate (about something related to the K-1 visa) and I used the immigrationrio@state.gov e-mail address. They responded the following day with a thorough and accurate answer. Have you tried that address yet?

I have no idea about the expedite, but if they moved your interview up almost a month, that would seem like it had been expedited to me. K-1 interviewees normally have to wait about two months as well between the consulate receiving the package and the interview date. I don't think they can bump somebody else to give you that person's slot, even if you are being expedited.

I used to send emails to them in that same adress immigrationrio@state.gov and usually got an asnwer on the same day or on the following day. And I agree with sma1488, I think they already expedited your interview date. I know it might be a long time for you, but it will pass fast :)

Thanks! I worded my question wrong.... both of the dates I mentioned were in the SAME email, so I don't know which date it actually is. If it is March 30th I agree it doesn't seem like that long, but if it is April 24th that is definitely normal scheduling time or more (Feb 9th to April 24th). I will try again at the immigration email address maybe the delays are due to carnaval.

Also one thing I have learned about expedites is the interview date doesn't necessarily mean you will get an earlier date. Expedite means your case gets worked on faster and you get the next date available usually and that's what is available for CR1/IR1's I would take the March date and run with it.

Thanks Dwheels I really hope that the March date is actually the right one, I am going to confirm with them though because if I show up and they tell me its the wrong day it will be an expensive mistake (I have to fly to the consulate).

Turns out the interview date is actually April 24th.... but I don't think there is much we can do at this point. This will put me at a point where I will probably no longer be able to fly. Ack. Thanks again for your responses.
