You can not sponsor a tourist visa.

You can not sponsor a tourist visa.

We did and she is here now. Was denied without sponsor in June of 2014 and approved with sponsor and letter of invite in October 2014.

You can submit whatever, you are confusing cause with effect

Why not reference official US sources rather than dodgy Indian ones?

Just because you submitted something does not mean that was the reason for the approval. You can not pinpoint that was the difference without considering other factors such as a friendlier CO.

Instead of quoting non-US government websites, why not get something from the US State Department?

Guess what - whatever you submitted was not a factor to issue or deny a nonimmigrant visa.

Note: Visa applicants must qualify on the basis of the applicant's residence and ties abroad, rather than assurances from U.S. family and friends. A letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support is not needed to apply for a nonimmigrant tourist visa. If you do choose to bring a letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support to your interview, please remember that it is not one of the factors that we use in determining whether to issue or deny a nonimmigrant tourist visa.

Thanks for all your help. My plan us not to get spinsorship anymore. I will have enough funds at that time. I apply for a loan or something. And never to mention about my boyfriend. I'll go there as pure tourist. Is that good enough? Should I book flight and make hotel reservations before the interview? I think this is a better way to go. No, there won't be any kind of conference meeting of my company in US there.

Just sayin, it worked for us. She was denied in June and in October we submitted the Affidavit of support, letter of invite, reservations, my father's income , and a letter stating that it was in our best interests for her to return. She was approved at interview and arrived in October.

So the US State Department is wrong about its own policy?

Stop thinking that you made the difference. Your stuff was not considered. It's coincidental.

If I wear a particular jersey and my time wins and lose when I don't wear it, does it mean wearing my jersey is the reason my team win? No.

They tell you not to book a flight etc until you are approved.

My assumption is that it will be an easy guess the real purpose of your visit.

The U.S. Embassy warns every applicant not to make travel arrangements before getting the visa.

Having travel arrangements will not increase your chances of getting the visa. The U.S. Embassy does not care.

If you do not get the visa, then you will not be able to use the airline tickets and hotels you paid for.

So I will never tell the officer that I am visiting my boyfriend? How will that go?

NEVER lie to the officers at the border. You must tell them the truth but only answer the questions they are asking you. You don't need to offer extra information. But they will most likely be asking you who you are visiting and for how long. When you say you are visiting your boyfriend for a month you will definitely be raising their concern. You will need to be able to convince them that you are only coming to visit and that you have strong ties to return home. But if you are on a work placement away from home where will you be returning to after your trip and how strong are those ties?

Again the best will be to give details of your friend and tell them you are going to stay with your friend. That will save ur money as well as the visa officer will assume ur funds are enough as a tourist becuase you are not going to pay for accomodation and food , that makes chances of getting a visa more.
