Hello guys,

I tried to find on old topics what happens with all the papers inside that yellow package which was mailed me by the Consulate and that I need to give at the POE. Will they get the papers or will they give it back to me?

thanks so much :)

They take it all and send it off for your AOS to keep on file.

You don't get any of it back.

Yep, you guard it with your life until the big day, then at the POE they open it, and you don't get a scrap of it back.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

The envelope contains all your immigration documents thus far, and you will not receive any of those back at your POE. They are sent to the USCIS and are part of your A-file > http://www.uscis.gov/history-and-genealogy/genealogy/files-numbered-below-8-million#WhatAreAFiles

So I have a situation where I had to send my original birth certificate back to the embassy because I forgot it at the interview for my K-1 visa.

When I received my K-1 visa back, my original birth certificate is sealed in the manilla envelope. The embassy said there is nothing they can do. This is so frustrating but I have a photocopy of it.

Do you think they will give me back the original at the POE?

If you want that document back, take a look here: http://www.uscis.gov/g-884 Not sure how quickly they get the document back to you, also unsure of the process.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Thank you so much.

This is helpful. Just in case, they don't give me my birth certificate back at the POE.

Sigh.
