Hey all!

If using a separate sheet of paper for I-129F Q34a. what should you put on the document in answer box? Also what should be included in this? Just how we met or should I include how we communicated and when we visited etc? Please help!! xx

You do need a separate paper, you can just write in that box: "A met B on xx/xx in zzz"

If you do want to write a longer story, put "A met B on xx/xx in zzz. Please refer to attachment"

On the attachment you put: Attachment to I-129F Question 34a. I'd sign that page.

I just wrote in the box underneath the question that my fiance and I met on a vacation abroad with the dates listed. These dates tie in with some of our evidence (passport stamps) we submitted.

Ok, I think I am confused about what this question is asking...are they wanting to know how/where we met in person or how we met for the first time...(we met online through a mutual friend on skype)...

I believe it's asking of how you guys met. Use a separate sheet of paper & describe how you met your finance plus where/when you guys met in person. That's what I did for mine ... Good luck!

On the older forms I-129f it used to say stuff like describe how you meet your fiancé in person.

I just put a simple statement on the new form like I meet xxxxxxxx on dated xxxxxxx while on vaction in Philippines

Raven22: The critical thing is to prove that you guys have met IN PERSON within the last two years. How you actually got to know one another is of no concern to USCIS.

The requirement for the I-129F petition is that you have met in person within the 2 years prior to filing. It is asking about your in person meeting. You can simply state you met online on xx/xx/xxxx and [name] went to [country] on xx/xx/xxxx to visit [name] for [length of trip].

Then your proof of meeting, the passport stamps, boarding passes, etc. will back up the meeting you describe there.

All you need to write is the circumstances of HOW you met. A simple statement such as: WE MET ON [date] IN [place] will suffice.

If you choose to add an attachment to explain in further detail, then you will simply write in the box: SEE ATTACHED: I-129F SUPPLEMENT QUESTION 34.A (or something similar). Make sure that you label your attachment with the form name and question number at the top.

We chose to use a separate sheet as others have described. Do label your extra page with the same language you use within the form, just to make things nice and easier for whoever reviews your petition. Somewhere I read that you should NOT go more than one page with details. They're not looking for your whole biography, just proof you've met. More than rhat is realky "front-loading" the petition with proof of relationship details, and there's some devate over how useful that is. We originally met online as well, so I did choose to provide a half-page, cliff notes version of the relationship, with more info on the original in person meeting than anything else. But, as others have said, all the petition is looking for is "have you actually seen each other in person". Good luck!

I (and others) chose to include a separate letter outlining our relationship "timeline" as a piece of secondary evidence. You could also do that if you wish.

I used a separate piece of paper. Top of the page I wrote the document number and question it was addressing. Then I wrote: "we have met in person most recently on [date] in [place]. Supporting evidence for this meeting can be found attached to this sheet (and I included copies of my boarding passes, visa stamp, and a dated photo we took together on that trip". Further detailed explanation about our meeting and ongoing visits is available below.

Then I started a new paragraph and started from the beginning, and wrote almost a full page. I figure better safe than sorry (I have heard of people getting RFEs to show evidence of a relationship--don't know where through), plus it's part of my "front loaded" application---the embassy will want to know that stuff so why not put it in now to avoid getting RFE'd by USCIS. I outlined it like I did, so that if the USCIS adjudicator just wants to know that we've seen each other in the past two years, they can, and quickly. And if they want more info, it is available below.

I'm surprised that this was accepted, when the question appears to be asking when you first met not when you most recently have seen one and other. I'm glad this worked out fine for you though! Interesting.

Yeah, it seems vague but the overall point of that question is "prove that you've seen each other int he past two years". So that's what I addressed first and foremost, just so that they can read it and move on with the application because I do believe that that's all they want. However, just in case this is a "we want to hear your story", I provided the longer version that took up almost a full page single spaced, including exactly when and where we first met, and details and evidence of all 6 visits. Plus, providing this "just in case" can't hurt and the embassy will want these details anyway, so....win/win.

Edited to add: ha, yeah I just got NOA1 text at 4pm Friday. So I have no idea if this was accepted or not, but I have a hard time imagining that I have not provided enough information.
