After noticing August approvals since early February, I thought of making this thread for those who have received their NOA2. It would be nice to share our experience about the next NVC/DOS stages!! Please include your updated timeline.

Congratulation on the approvals! Hoping to see more August filers here!!

Good luck everyone!!!

the website is https://ceac.state.gov however you can only check once you get your NVC case #. there are 3 stages to NVC for K1 visa's basically.

AT NVC / IN TRANSIT / READY = at nvc means they are still checking your case and documents giving all the Id #s. in transit means they shipped your case / file to your fiance consulate in the country they are going to interview from. and Ready means the consulate has received the documents and you are ready to set your interview date. This is just me understanding of the process and please don't take it as total. You have to research also.

I believe that once you receive the NVC case# you are able to start filling out the ds160 application online. Gather your documents for the next stage I-134, letter from employer, new letter of intent to marry from you the USC- dated recently. Proof of ongoing relationship etc etc. There is a NVC forum section on VJ. Also check the embassy info page relating to your case, for specific info for that country/ consulate. That's all I have for now good luck. Ricciardo

I'm a bit confused...I received my NOA2 on Feb 19th and haven't heard anything yet about my case being shipped to NVC. Not sure what to do, Am I supposed to call NVC first or wait to receive a notification from USCIS???

Did you get your NOA2 hardcopy in the mail yet? (your timeline doesn't indicate)

I personally would call USCIS to ask about the hard copy if you haven't received it and if they forwarded your case to NVC.

I called USCIS and finally received the hardcopy on Monday, I found out that it was sent to my old address! (even though I changed it months ago on the website...) I also received this notification:

"On March 9, 2015, we sent your case, Receipt Number SRC14********, to the Department of State for visa processing" (thank god) since then we've been trying to reach NVC everyday, I finally got to speak to someone today, the lady said they haven't received my case yet and told me that it might take up to 30 days for processing..... :clock:

I think the general consensus on VJ is to wait at least 10 days(business days I believe) before calling NVC and also to ignore the 35 day wait time that is stated in the recorded message when calling.

I have not called NVC yet.

Oh ok I'm glad to hear that! We will wait 10 business days then. Thank you so much for the info.... you helped me lower my blood pressure a lot. :)

Today I tried to call, got a message that said there was a high volume of calls and to call back later, then it disconnected, that's it no options or anything.

I decided to try emailing them instead, as it is stated here, http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/National_Visa_Center, that it is NVC's preferred method of communication, let's see how long it takes for a response, hopefully it will better than trying to get through on the phone for hours then waiting on hold for 40 mins.

When emailing I provided the following as outlined in the above link:

  • NVC case number or CIS receipt number
  • Petitioner's name and date of birth
  • Beneficiary's name and date of birth
  • Your full name

And I used "NVC Case Number Request - SRCxxxxxxxx" for the subject line.

Hi there! :)

I got approved last friday. I am now waiting for the hardcopy of the NOA2.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
If I understood well, I have to wait around 10 days and try to call NVC to ask for our case number which will allow us to file the DS160 online.
And then what else ?

I am not expert on this, the only knowledge I have is from what I have read in other posts on the site, which is that you should wait 10 days before calling NVC to get your case number, you need the case number to access and complete the DS160...you also need it to track the status of your case.

I am thinking that the 10 days is needed for the time for the application file to travel from USCIS to the NVC then have someone enter it into the NVC system.

You said you got approved last friday, I got approved on February 20th and then, on March 3rd, I got another status update alert from USCIS stating the case was sent to the NVC, I got the alert the same day that it was sent. Logically I guess you would wait 10 days after you get the status update from USCIS telling you that your case was sent to the NVC.
