K2 travel to the US without a parent

Hi,

I would like to ask VJers if someone had a similar case as mine.

I am applying for a K1 visa with my daughter as dependent.

The petition has already been approved and my daughter's name is included.

However, I am worried there may be complications during the interview or during take off maybe.

My daughter carries her biological father's last name.

His biological father signed the Affidavit of Admission of Paternity on her Birth Certificate.

I have not seen nor heard from the biological father ever since my daughter was 4months old.

Should we expect some complications regarding her K2 visa since she does not carry my last name?

I have read that according to Phil law, the mother has sole parental right of the illegitimate child.

But still should we prepare some kind of papers to avoid complications (eg BOI might not allow her to fly with me)?

Absolutely no issue, zero, nada, none. It is more common then you would think. Embassy will not want anything from the father.

No documents are needed from the "father", as you do have sole custody of your daughter.

Hank is right! My son has his biological father's last name also and the consul didn't ask anything about it when we had our interview.
