I have a 10 year B1/B2 visa which I got 2 years ago and I have used it twice to visit my fiancee. I wonder if anyone knows when do they cancel your tourist visa...is it before or after the interview? Or when your K1 is approved?

Your tourist visa will be cancelled once the K1 is issued.

Yes, they are authorized by US embassy. I tried not to give my passport to them during the first two consecutive days they asked and I saw a remark on their computer system that "applicant refused to give passport with US visa". Then, they asked me again during my sputum exam and said that US embassy mandated them to get the passport with tourist visa so they can cancel it or they will not release my medical result. So, I gave it to them and when they returned it, it is stamped cancelled already.

I see...my US visa is in my old passport and they didn't asked if I have a US visa..so perhaps mine will be cancelled after K1 visa approval. Thanks guys for the replies.

Oh wow. I didn't know that... I thought only the consuls can do that. Thanks for the info! :)

Question though, what if SLEC cancels your tourist visa then you were denied of K1? Can't you have your Tourist Visa back? Or would you need to apply again for a tourist visa?

SLEC doesn't actually cancel the tourist visa, they just stamp it cancelled in the passport. The embassy did the actual cancellation, SLEC is just following instructions to physically stamp the visa.

Once cancelled you would have to apply for another tourist visa, but my bet is the odds of getting the tourist visa again just got really slim.

Thanks! And I had a very good experience during my interview with the CO. He was very friendly and polite...he even joke about the results of my interview (it would be a cruel joke if I didn't passed but I did so..). He asked me how we met, looked at the pictures included in the I-129F package, asked for my job, asked for the countries I've been to, how many times I've been to the US, what my fiancee do for a living. That's all the questions I remembered.

The pre-screening part (local employee) was also very polite and nice. She asked for my requirements (NBI, cenomar, birth cert, payment stubs, passport/s...include old us visa) and asked me a couple of questions. Everything went smoothly but the queue for each part is such a hassle but with my experience with SLEC ...the waiting time was no big deal lol. Got inside the embassy around 8 am and finished at 11am.
