K1 Filers Emailing the NVC

Has anyone tried this? According to the NVC webpage (http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/contact.html), only immigrant filers may email them. Where do K1's fit in this? Technically we're non-immigrant filers, but obviously we are also, in many ways, immigrant filers.

I wanted to email them given the closure this week for the snowstorm, as well as, frankly, my lack of desire to have to call dozens of times only to get a busy signal. Then, upon actually getting a non-busy signal, to wait on hold for long periods of time, as reports by many other VJers.

I'd appreciate hearing from other K1 filers with experience contacting the NVC. Thanks and good luck to us all!

I've had replies from emailing NVC before, not sure if that's the same address, but it took about four weeks to get a response!

I used asknvc@state.gov & NVCResearch@state.gov

Cheers, Pheebs. If I go the email route, I'll probably send to all three addresses ;)

That said, I was hoping to get NVC number before then, so now I can see why most choose to call them----however difficult that might be.

Btw, I'm just curious: I see many fellow K1 filiers like yourself that hail from visa-waiver countries. I very much respect you playing by the rules and doing things the right way, but why not just meet up in USA, get married, and then adjust status? There must be a reason why K1 is the preferred option, I've just no idea what it could be...

Yes email all three and good luck! Let us know which one yields a response first :)

It's not legal, and therefore, not worth the risk. Perhaps some people do take that route and succeed, but it is not recommended especially not on visa journey. Visa fraud cannot be promoted here in any way, it is against the sites rules.

We just wanted to go by the book and ensure everything went smoothly, and so far, it's been going pretty well :)

P.S Just noticed you're Oregon also! That's where my fiance lives :)

Wow, I'm glad I asked--bc I had no idea it wasn't legal. That obvsiously explains everything. ;)

I'll let everyone know. The NVC seems every bit as mysterious as USCIS, bc some VJers report an extremely fast turnaround time there, while others are stuck there for several months.

Thanks again from a fellow VJer who happens to be in the Portland area as well, Pheebs.
