Recieved NOA2 letter today from USCIS in London (applying DCF).

There is no File number on the letter just the prefix "A". Is this normal practice or should I contact them for a file number?

I know that I need my LND before I can complete more of the application but just unsure about this "file number"

Thanks for any insight

You are dealing with two separate agencies in this process. USCIS has approved your petition. They don't generate embassy case numbers like the LNDxxxxxxxx number. That number is generated by another agency...the Department of State. The embassy visa unit is part of the Dept of State and they will send you a letter with your case number and your instructions when they receive your file from USCIS. While both may share office space in the same London building, they are very separate agencies. Edited by Nich-Nick
