I am a USC and my fiancé came here 4 weeks ago on a F-1 we will be wedding in Feb. We are desperate for answers on a few things. First off where do we start! When can we apply to change status, applying for ssn, work release and such. Thank you for your time looking forward to answers! God Bless!

September 2007: Met online via social networking site (MySpace); began exchanging messages.
March 26, 2009: We become a couple!
September 10, 2009: Arrived for first meeting in-person!
June 17, 2010: Arrived for second in-person meeting and start of travel together to other areas of China!
June 21, 2010: Engaged!!!
September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!
February 18, 2011: Wedding ceremony in Shiyan!!!
April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

Yes F1 is a non immigrant visa. If you are getting married within two months of her arrival and applying immediately, That would seem fishy.

Adjusting from F-1 Visa

**************************************************************************************************

Day XX >> March 07,2015 --- Sent AOS Package containing I-130, I-485, I-765.
Day 01 >> March 09, 2015 --- USPS delivered the package to Chicago Lockbox.
Day 08 >> March 16, 2015 --- Received text messages and email notifications for 3 different Receipt numbers.
Day 09 >> March 17, 2015 --- Checks were cashed.
Day 12 >> March 20, 2015 --- Received NOA1 for I-130, I-485 and I-765.

Day 20 >> March 28, 2015 --- Received letter for biometrics appointment.
Day 29 >> April 6, 2015 --- Successfully completed the scheduled biometrics appointment (took only 10 minutes, very good staff in Albany :thumbs: )

Day 79 >> May 26, 2015 --- Contacted USCIS to raise a service request for I-765

Day 80 >> May 27, 2015 --- Received an email notification and the case status for I-765 changed to indicate that employment card for I-765 was ordered

Day 85 >> June 01, 2015 --- EAD Card was mailed

Day 88 >> June 04, 2015 --- Received the EAD Card

Day 117 >> July 03, 2015 --- Received the email and the case status for I-485 changed to show interview is scheduled for July 30.

Day 144 >> July 30, 2015 --- Had our interview and got approved immediately. Case status was updated to show that the Green Card is being produced :)

Day 166 >> August 21, 2015 --- Case status updated to "Green card was mailed" (did not see any tracking number)

Day 169 >> August 24, 2015 --- Received 2 year Conditional GC in mail. :dance:

To make a long story short he is my first love we met on facebook more than 10 years ago. I chose another man and we both went on with our life somehow but remained unhappy. Years later he is planning to study in u.s and applies and is accepted to a school in a different state than where I live. He found me finally single on facebook and we began chatting. His first visa was denied for lack of proof he will return. The second was approved. Once arriving here it was obvious to us and my family that we are truly soulmates. I met him at his school and never left his side. we want to marry and after he schools return to Nigerian together in time.

So what we're the questions in your first post about? He can carry on at school etc on his student visa.

Job? You said he is here as a student.

How long was he at his college before he left? Did he not have to pay for his course?

So he is still on a F1 Visa? The school that he moved to, to be with you they sponsored him? You can't just goo to any school you want.

There's a post now about Ice coming to a USC's hose because they are paying close attention to student Visa people.

So did he have permission to change schools?

And student Visa's usually don't get to have jobs, usually it's just work release.

If he arrived on the student visa 4 weeks ago and is already left school to be with you there are going to be a LOT of bumps in your path to getting status for him in the US. Nigerians are known for being full of ideas on how to shortcut the process and many times they pay dearly for these ideas.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

OP, I mean no harm but the truth is that its guys like you that give sincere Nigerians bad reputation over there.

This ya wanna do is not ideal and a total mess of the whole essence of student visa ... I am sure those you wanna submit ya file to at the USCIS aren't dumb and they gonna see this as immigration fraud.

BOTTOM LINE: DESIST
