I-485 Biometrics and Gun Range Issue?

Searched but couldn't find anything specific to this question. My wife hasn't yet had Biometrics on her I-485. Do you think there would be an issue if she shot at a gun range with me between now & the time of her Biometrics appointment? I just have fears about the gun residue showing up in her fingerprints & that causing some sort of an issue. It's Texas. We shoot.

Fingerprints are based on a picture of the prints. It has nothing to do with what is on the fingers, whether it is powder residue (assuming she doesn't wash her hands), popcorn oil, chocolate seasoning, etc.

I wonder if you're slightly confusing this with procedures like at an airport where they have machines that sniff for bomb residue...? Prints have nothing to do with that.

Good luck!

They take the print of all fingers, they don't test for anything at all. Nothing to worry about.

I'm sorry but you must not've ever fired a gun before. The powder residue doesn't go away just by washing your hands. But thanks for your response.

Thanks. That answered my question perfectly.

Firing a gun is not a prerequisite to understanding the process of removing GSR, clearly:

https://www.ncjrs.gov/App/publications/abstract.aspx?ID=59496

SINCE GUNSHOT RESIDUE CAN BE REMOVED BY WASHING

Good luck!

If I remember correctly, I actually did shoot a gun at a gun range before my AOS biometrics. No problems at all. It honestly did not even cross my mind that there could be any issues related to residue.
