Hello VJers ;)

As I am about to leave for the U.S., I was wondering what documents I will need to translate for the AOS but also for life in general.

I read on the Guide for AOS that I have to translate my birth certificate in English.

Can the translations be done in a different country than the U.S.?

Thank you! :)

So it's not gonna be easy.

It's going to be really hard;

we're gonna have to work at this everyday,

but I want to do that because I want you.

I want all of you, forever, everyday.

You and me.. everyday.

For future use in the US you can most certainly get it translated already in Germany. I'm unsure, though, as to which country typically has cheaper translations. My husband isn't getting anything translated except for his Diplom and a referral from his boss from work stating he was a good employee. If Iris says she did the birth certificate and vaccine record herself then I'd follow her instructions on those. The employment-related stuff though I, personally, would have professionally done so a potential employer will take it seriously.

OP, were you born in Germany? You can get an International Birth Certificate then, obtainable at the Standesamt of the place where you were born. I got a bunch of them before I left. Cost me 10 Euros for each copy and saved the cost of translating it.

Yes I agree with you for diplomas etc to use in the U.S. I would do it professionally too. I think it has to be that way to be valid.

My university provided me with an English translation of my Bachelor's certificate, not sure if other universities in Germany may not do so.

That's what my Fiancee did, get an International Birth Cert for AOS. She was able to get it the day she went & that was like 2 days after calling them to inquire about it. Way easier to do this from Germany than the States.

Edit: I read further. I see OP cannot do this per not being born in Germany. OP, curious. When is your POE?

Anyone fluent in both languages can do the translation of the birth certificate. The person that does the translation just needs to add this certification on the translated document > http://www.visajourney.com/content/translations
