Hey friends,

I am having a confusing situation here. My fiance's visa was on 24th November at Dhaka Embassy, Bangladesh. His visa was approved and he got the white paper. The CO did not tell him when to pick up the passport but said that he should keep checkinh USTRAVELDOC account for update. I keep checking CEAC website. The status remained ready until 26th November and went to "ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING" on 26. Does anyone have any idea if it is normal AP or is there any chance after the visa approval that it will stay on AP for long time? What could be the possible reasons after the visa approval to go to AP?

I thought when your visa is approved it takes two days to issue the visa. I am really confused

Possible reasons for AP is being from a high fraud country. Bangadlesh is high fraud. AP can last anywhere from days, weeks, months and in a few cases years.

First thind check your status on ceac check visa status, if your creation date changed and the updated date changed too, then you dont have nothing to worry.

But if your creation date hasnt changed the be patient.

Ap can be days, weeks, months or years.

I was approved on march 18, and i am in ap 8 months now ans still waiting.

Ap doesnt have a timeline when finish.

But if your creation date on ceac changes that is good news.

AP is pretty standard for some countries, specially if you are a male from those countries, AP is pretty standard. Even more sadly the time you can be in AP could be 1 month to 9 months. Though I heard once some one moved out in less than a month but it's an exemption. Just keep your fingers cross hoping it will be over soon. Just background check and that's all. You can't do anything to expedite it or get an exact answer, so just hang in there for some more time.

Best wishes and want your quick approval on this.

Thank you....It is pretty stressful to go through this whole process patiently and finally when you are on the last stage you just have to sit here and hope and pray until something magical happens. Sigh...

Just to be clear, if you know, the petition has already been approved & as far as I know background check is done by the DOS after USCIS approves the petition, right? So after the visa approval why do they go through another background check?

I do not think this AP was in effect, just not as prevalent as now (we were 2013, early).,.,.,but it seems to be a real pain in the #######!

More obama B.S. !!!

I had an interview also last November 24th (US Embassy Manila) and when I checked my visa status today it is in Administrative Processing also. I think it is normal. Just be patient. This journey needs patience.

By the way, I was told by a Filipino consul at the embassy that if I never received a text message from the 2GO courier in two weeks regarding on my visa, I can call the embassy to follow up.

I will then wait and will just call them if I never heard anything from the courier in two weeks. :)

Oppsss.. I just checked my visa status in CEAC website just now and it says "ISSUED"

Your visa is in final processing. If you have not received your passport in more than 10 days after your interview, please contact the Embassy call center from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, to track the delivery of your passport.

skylark647: yes AP aka advanced processing that is done at the embassy level. Usually the background check is very basick with USCIS and DOS. In fact USCIS don't do any background check. The checks at te embassy level may end up with name check to heavy duty FBI check depending on God knows what. You will not get any answer from anyone but just that its under processing. Best part is this usually doesn't means nothing and visa is issued after you will develop ulcer unless your fiancé turns out someone with real shady past.

So yes, hold on tight with hopes and tell him to use this time to do all the last minute shopping, meeting and enjoy the Bangladeshi foods :-)
