Actually laughed at the letter I received from USCIS today. Basically I adjusted my status in January, received EAD in May, letter in late May saying there will be a random 6 month delay on green card not related to my case. Sent service request in last month asking where my green card was as that 6 month delay period has passed and received a letter today basically saying 'you wrote to us as you felt you're case was outside of normal processing time, your case is still being reviewed and we cant give you a timeframe on when the decision will be made"........ thanks for the letter saying we dont have anything to tell you and we dont know when that will change guys, very helpful. My EAD runs out in April, theyre definitely cutting it fine

Hi Cam - Ours has stretched out so long I can hardly keep track of it. We got married in early June, filed I-485, I-131, and EAD in early June. She had her Bio appt. in August. Meantime she got her AP/EAD card. We got the 6 month letter on the I-485 in September. I guess we better look at her EAD card and see if it expires anytime soon. I am not sure when to expect it. We probably want to get to Thailand about a year from now to visit. Anyway, best of luck to you and all others here on VJ.

It's a standard letter they send out to most (all?) people adjusting from a K visa. The six month timeframe isn't binding, and many people exceed it, as you found out.

It can regularly take a year or so to adjust from a K visa; often the long wait means you will have no interview, although that's not set in stone.

You should file for a replacement EAD (and AP) 120 days before your current documents would expire, if you still haven't heard anything by then.

Yep, unfortunately those getting approved without interview are waiting longer than those that get interviewed. Some have waited 12+ month and have needed to renew their EAD and AP. It is still free to get a renewal, just send in a copy of your receipt notice from filing the I-485 along with your I-765 and I-131 forms.

This is really good information. I'm filing AOS soon and have learned through these forums that the EAD, which is supposed to be temporary, is now almost serving in place of the 2 year green card because they are being so slow in issuing it.

I'm with you guys! A fellow January filer still waiting as well. You're not alone! We got the EAD/AP in March, the letter in April, I filed a service request last month and the last thing we got was a letter saying that our case would be sent to the local office for processing. That letter was the last week of October and nothing has happened since. It's so frustrating!

Just wanted to say hang in there, we just got some movement on our case! Got a letter in the mail today dated November 20th stating that our case has arrived in the Sacremento office for processing and if we haven't heard from them in 60 days to follow up.

I'm assuming since Houston to Sacremento is not a reasonable expectation for someone to go for an interview that we will see the "card in production" message soon!

Hang in there !!

We filed AOS on January 29, 2014.

We changed address early on during the process - and thats what might have slowed it down a bit.

I received EAD and AP early april and the potential Interview Waiver Case letter May 15, 2014.

This morning (December 08,2014) I got an e-mail saying that our Status changed to Card Production on December 06/2014. I am so excited and relieved.

It took 311 days from filing AOS to Card in Production and 207 days from the Interview waiver letter.

Now all I can do is hope they send the card to the right address... We already went through some trouble because of that!
