My bf and I are planning on getting engaged soon. He's American. I'm Canadian. Plan is for me to move to the US after we get married.

RE: K-1 visa, it says when you go for your interview, you need to have the police certificates for any country you have lived in for more than 6 months since you were 16 years of age.

In 2000, I did 10 months of volunteer missionary work in Australia. I was there under a volunteer visa and I traveled all over the country working with youth, and was not in one place for very long.

Does this mean I have to get an Australian police check? Would it mean I need an Australian National police check, since I was not in one location?

So confused.

Figure I need to get one of these done... http://www.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/police-checks/national-police-checks.aspx

Not sure how long it would take to get one finished and sent to me here in Canada.

RE: when you're going in for your K-1 visa interview and need to bring the criminal record checks... anyone know how recent they have to be? I'm just trying to make sure I time things right as it could take quite awhile for an Australian records check to be sent to me from the land down under.
