NVC Process Change

NVC wiki page mentions the change to the process of document submission, but there are no details. My case has been newly assigned a number and I immediately got a bar coded cover sheet in the welcome email that tells me to submit documents as one package, which combines documents from the former AOS and former IV packages. Looks like I can send the entire package (former AOS+IV) right away before actually waiting to be invoiced. Has anyone else received a bar coded cover page in the welcome email? If so have you sent all your documents before waiting to be invoiced?

Our number got asignet this week too. But as much i understand the new webpage you need to pay first the fees and send the 260 online before you send the documents out.

See the webpage. Its very simple and easy to understand. Just click thru the steps

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/contact.html

Quote NVC: If you pay online, please allow five days for the NVC to process your fee payments before continuing to the next step.

Thank you for the link! Are you preparing for submitting the required documents soon? I am obsessing now about photocopies - say I am sending the original birth certificate and translated/notarized photocopy. Do I also need to make a photocopy? Or say I am sending W-2 form - does NVC still needs another photocopy of the W-2 form? Common sense tells me that NVC probably needs photocopies of the original document only, because the original will be returned to me, but at this step I am not sure if common sense is enough to avoid checklist :) Can you please share your understanding regarding photocopies?

I'm going to send all original documents with one regular copy attached. Only the marriage certificate is a copy (from the clerks office we got married) and a translated divorce document is also just a copy (made from the translator with seal and all, like we send it also to the USCIS)

I send as much originals we can. Cause all of them we just ordered for the Visa process. So i dont need them for a other reason

Sounds good, hope everything goes smooth for us. By the way for USCIS I actually translated and certified all documents myself without any problem. I am going to include copies of all original documents that NVC is not going to retain, but for I864, w2 and all other good stuff that NVC retains I probably don't need to. Wish you good luck for the rest of the process, lets keep in touch since we are almost on the same schedule.

I submitted my papers before they started the process of taking AOS + IV together, and when I talked to NVC due to a checklist I asked will my files be merged and reviewed together, she said no and I will be reviewed separately.

However, I believe them combining these 2 processes into one will be more efficient in the long run they should have done this along time ago. Hopefully, they start doing Case Completes fast now heading into next year.

Hi all, i did not send all my documents as one bcuz my husband is still waiting on his police certificate to come back. He should have it by 11/3. I sent the AOS and supporting documents after i paid the Aos fee. We tried to complete the immigration form via online but the system isnt allowing us to and i haven't received the invoice for it yet. Has anyone else had this problem?

Canya2, personally I would have waited till I have all my documents before sending the package. Have you spoken with NVC? I would recommend sending them an email and calling if necessary.

My news are - I paid my AOS fee and now waiting to be invoiced IV fee. Interestingly we have requested expeditious processing, but have not yet heard the outcome. I hope to hear something very soon, because if I don't know the outcome of expedite request then I don't know if I need to send documents to NVC or not...

I thought about sending it all at once but since the system didnt allow me to pay both fees at one time , i thought it had to be sent separately. Plus my husband will have to send the supporting documents for visa to Nvc directly. It made more since for him to send it instead of him sending it to me and then me sending it to nvc. Im assuming by time they get around to viewing the documents both package would've arrived by then.

It's great to see a group of us on the same timeline and navigating these new changes in the NVC system together. I've been doing a lot of google searching viewing only the last "30 days of info" to find people dealing with the new system. It's nice to have found this thread  I've paid my AOS bill on 10/24 and am just waiting to see if anything changes on Mon. and if by chance the IV bill comes available to pay. We're compiling papers, my husband picks up his Police Report here in Bangkok on Wed. and we have everything else pretty much ready to go to send in both AOS and IV packs together. I've decided to send both packs together AFTER the IV is bill is paid although I have read some people are sending both packs after paying the AOS fee only with the AOS barcoded cover sheet. (before paying IV)

My question is ~ I'm sending ORIGINAL Marriage, Divorce & Birth Certificates (gah! hate to do this!) with blk & wht copies of each. I'm going to send translations for all three as well. Should I send the original translations? with the certified stamps~ or would a COPY of the translations suffice? I've seen people say we don't need the translations... but then others say we do... so I'm sending them. I really don't want to spend an extra 60 days in NVC for ANY kind of checklist~ Oh! this is really starting to get going now ~ now is the time not to make any mistakes

jaiyen17, I believe our IV fee will be invoiced within first half of the next week, but no later then next next Wednesday. Per joni's link to NVC process it clearly says to pay all your fees, wait for 5-6 days and then submit all documents in one package. As for translations I am sending translations for all documents that are not in English and this will be official translations, not copies - why do you want to send a copy of translation? By the way I did translation and certification of Petitioner's document myself and never had a problem at USCIS (this case and older case) or NVC (older case).

After my AOS fee showed as paid, I used the Document Cover Sheet to send both the AOS and IV packages together as instructed by an NVC operator.

A few days later I received the email stating my documents were received and to wait 60 days for review. That was 32 days ago.

I haven't received any checklists as of yet.

I don't anticipate receiving the archaic "false" checklists since both packages were sent and received together.

I know someone else here who did the same thing about a month before me and has received his case complete with no issues.

Have you used Cover sheet from the welcome letter? Have you used AOS and IV cover sheets too? I have welcome letter cover sheet, but I also got another one after I paid AOS fee.

Jonfei9 ~ Thank you for your feedback that I should receive IV fee invoice middle of this week ~ that's what I was thinking too. I remember reading in another thread that Robbieg used the AOS cover sheet to send both packs together before paying IV. Supposedly the bar code # doesn't change. Only the "Attn. CMR AOS" text changes after paying IV. She seems to be fine sending the package in before paying IV... but after reading everything I can find I've decided to follow the NVC directions step by step and send it after paying IV.

As for my translations. I send copies of them to the USCIS. I guess I'll send the originals but I hope I get them back. Could be useful at some point in life ~ if it was alright to send copies of them to the NVC and bring the originals to the Interview I would prefer to do it that way. They say "Original" documents.... but nowhere can I find it say I need to send "Original" translations.

Also as for planning here ~ any idea when the DS260 may open up? It's really nice to find someone with the exact same timeline as we have. Have you heard anymore about your expedite request?
