DS-3025 medical valid for one year until date of application for AOS or interview?

Hi!

Just a quick question -- my DS-3025 from Sydney is dated Jan 3, 2014. I filed my application for AOS in mid July 2014.

I should have had my AOS interview in October but due to incompetence from USCIS it took them well over a month to change my address after I moved (they still can't confirm what address for me they have on their system - they said I had to make an appointment to discuss this...crazy!) and so I had to cancel my interview (in Detroit...I live in NY now) and ask them to reschedule for a NY office. It's taking forever, and I have to go overseas quite a lot over the next few months so I'll bet when they eventually do schedule an interview I will have to have it rescheduled it again, delaying it even more.

So at this stage I'm anticipating not actually getting to go to my AOS interview until early next year, by then 1 year would have passed since my DS-3025 date. Would I need to have my medical done all over again, and if so, what are the requirements for that?

Or do I just need to have filed my application for AOS within a year of that DS-3025 date (in which case, I have done)?

Any light shedding would be great!

Thanks so much

For a K-1, you are supposed to only have needed the medical within a year of filing. BUT with the recent change in policy about needing a new medical, if the medical is over a year old when the AOS is processed/approved some have received an RFE for a new medical. I would wait though and not get the new medical until told to do so at the interview because they may not ask for a new one. You of course can go ahead and get one before your interview, if you wish to not wait and see what the IO asks for. http://www.uscis.gov/i-693

I'm really hoping that it's valid as long as you file for AOS before the year is out. I live in Minnesota and their "estimated" time until interview according to VJ timelines is 365 days which would mean that my fiancé would be required to have a new medical even if we AOS'd this month (1 month after medical and still not through the interview process). If they start requiring one year from medical to interview it's going to make an expensive process WAY more expensive for a lot of people. But I don't actually know the answer to your question... just talking out my thought process and wishing the USCIS would do things logically and not so haphazardly.
