I used this chart to figure out what to do. Even if you know the ring numbering, it is still wrong. My fiance measured her finger and I still got her ring size too big. It is typical for a Vietnamese woman to be size 5 (U.S.). If you are getting a ring for her in Vietnam, it is best to have her there to measure her finger. I had to resize her ring when I brought her the ring from here. It only cost about 1-2 USD and 15 minutes to do it while I waited.

You may not need to wonder about the ring size. You should ask her to buy a cheap ring (a silver ring) which is fit to her finger, then send to you by post. This kind of ring is very cheap, it's around 1-2 USD. The post office will allow her to send if she said it's just for sample to make the marriage ring. When you can get this sample ring, you can bring it to the shop to ask them to do the same size as the sample ring.

I used to do like that.

It's definitely different. I bought my wife a ring using the measurement guidelines i got from the net, and it turned out way too big. I agree with what other said about getting a cheap silver ring and have it mailed to you.

Just a thought ...

Check if her ring size is given in english (US) or in mm. Will it be possible for her to visit a store (jewelry) and use the ring gauges to check size? If she has already done this … well thought I’d try.
