Hi everyone,

I (US citizen) live in Colombia with my Colombian husband and we are about to file the form I-130. However, I have no idea how to pay the fee, since I live in Colombia and will not be able to go to the US. I do have a US bank account. I called USCIS, and the person I spoke to was rude and wouldn´t answer any of my questions (it was obvious he had no idea and was just reading from a piece of paper), and I am left more confused on how to pay the fee out of the country.

Also, there is a Citibank in Colombia, but it is a foreign branch and not the same as in the US. So I am pretty sure that would not work.

Could someone please tell me what my options are to pay the fee from abroad? Thank you in advance!

Friends relatives?

How will you show domicile?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I have only been living in Colombia for 9 months and still have my US address (my parent´s address). I plan to live with them for awhile when we get back.

Are my relatives able to send a check for me in their name? or how would that work? Thanks!

you have a usa bank account - you have the checks with you ? IMO - easiest to submit YOUR check with the packet.

But - USCIS doesn't care - any check from anyone will do, as long as it's made out properly.

If I were in your shoes without checks, I'd get some cash to a buddy, who would then send you a check via dhl/fedex.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately I did all of my banking online, and never received checks and I do not think my bank would issue checks to me if I do not request in person.
