Vietnam Marriage License Validity

Hello,

New to the forum and have a specific question. My wife came over from Vietnam on a marriage visa (k-3 I believe)...she was issued a green card from the US Embassy overseas. The process took a few years. There being said, now that she's eligible to process her citizenship, do we need a US marriage license or is the Vietnamese marriage recognized here for purposes of obtaining her citizenship? If the Vietnamese license is all we need, does it need to be translated and/or notarized?

Thanks in advance.

Married is married. Doesn't matter where it was.

You can forward all other questions to the US Citizenship forum now though.

I'll move your post there too.

BTW I think your wife would have been on an IR1 visa it doesn't sound like she adjusted her status within the USA which is a requirement of the K3.

~~moved to USC forum from K3 process and procedures~~

Marriage licenses from another countries are recognized by uscis. It needs to be translated, you can do the translation yourself.
