Hi friends,

I have an upcoming interview this coming Oct 29, and I am contemplating about the Fiance letter of intent. I don't want to have a 221G because of that. Is it required/needed? I have all the papers with me though except this letter.

Thanks

oh ok, because some of the people in some forums I have joined said, some consul asks for it. I am wondering why do they have to ask for it and a cause for 221G if the US embassy/USCIS has already a copy of it.

I believe it is required when the petition has expired before the interview.

The embassay can extend the validity of the petition of course but if it has gone past the date on the original then it's safer to bring a new intent. Usually never needed though.

The way I look at it, you need to send the beneficiary a packet of documents anyway, including the affidavit of support. So you might as well throw ths in, since you are looking at about five extra minutes of work.

The letter of intent is not asked for at USEM. You can bring it just in case, but don't worry about it if you don't have one. When my wife had her interview, they only asked to see pictures of us together.

Thanks. Yes, the only letter of intent I have is the one that was dated on May, when my fiance sent the petition.

The guides state to include an updated letter of intent that shows ur continuing support. I included one in the documents I'm taking to him next week. Just in case. Idk if they still use them or not.

it is a requirement for the packet 4 - an updated (i.e. signed within 30 days of interview) letter of intent to ensure that the USC still intends to marry the applicant. I had to submit at my interview

As always, different consulates require different things. Stating what is needed for one consulate may not be what is needed at another.

From the embassy instructions letter MANILA:

h. EVIDENCE OF A GENUINE ENGAGEMENT. You must be prepared to prove to the consular officer
that you have a genuine relationship with your petitioner and a clear intention to marry within 90 days of
admission into the U.S. In the past, successful applicants have submitted photographs, letters, e-mails,
phone records, bank records, and remittance records as evidence supporting their relationships and intent to
marry.
The letter is not asked for in exact words, but evidence of INTENT TO MARRY within 90 days is listed and this would be an Intent To Marry letter. No the embassy has not asked for it in a number of years, not to say a CO couldn't. It is one piece of paper.

I have the intent letter, though it was dated on May, the date when my fiance sent the petition to the uscis. Will that suffice the requirement?
