K1 London - Vaccine Requirements

 Share

Hi All,

I am currently waiting for my NOA2 and looking ahead at the medical and vaccine requirements - I am from the UK so applying from London. I understand that for the K1 there is no requirement for vaccinations but it is needed for the AOS and it is best to have it all prepared for when I arrive in the US.

So, my question is what vaccinations are required? (There seems to be conflicting info on the internet)

If I do not have one will I be able to get this done at my medical in London?

Is it quicker/easier just to get it done in the US?

If anyone applying from London has gone through this phase successfully, any information/experiances would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Jay

Hi there fello Englishman!

I see you are waiting for your NOA2, so yes now is a great time to getthe vaccines done if you haven't got them already.

Follow this Guide http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide/

It has everything you need to know about London K1.

You need the vaccinations that are required are

called "TD", "MMR" (against measles, mumps & rubella), if you have had chickenpox already, tell the knightsbridge doctor, if you dont have a record, they will take your word for it. (You may need the flu jab depending on time of year for everything)

I would advise getting your history from your doctor to see how far away your TD was, because it needs to be less than 10 years, if not. you need a booster.

It is cheaper to get these done in the UK, otherwise if you dont have them before the medical (and remember if you do, take proof!) then the knightsbridge doctor can do them at a price of around 35 a shot i think it was.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I've done all this only a few months ago

Follow this link http://photos.state.gov/libraries/unitedkingdom/39181/pdfs/vaccinechart.pdf it will take you to a list of jabs required relative to age, it is from Knightsbridge Doctors which do the medical etc.

I took a copy to my GP surgery and asked them what i needed, got jabs for no charge.

P.S. if my link works

The chart in this post is out of date. Don't go by it.

The shots are listed in this UK GUIDE in post #1. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide/

Post #3 is all about the medical and has a link to Knightsbridge clinic website where you will find their price list. Try to get your GP to give them free.

On another note... if you do need the flu jab your employer may offer you it for free, some GP's charge if you do not fall into the "high risk" category,

  • 3 weeks later...

FYI Knightsbridge was out of the MMR when my fiance went. There are two of these that have to be done a few weeks apart, so you may need to shop around for that. His GP didn't do them either, he had to find another clinic and call ahead to make sure they had it on hand.

Just want to bump this up in case anything has changed.

I need to get my immunizations prior to medical if possible and just want to know which are 100% required, and which I need to get prior to AOS.

Any help much appreciated.

FYI, I've had chicken pox, and as far as I know the requirements are TDAP, MMR, Varicella and Influenza in flu season. Are these correct??

Thanks!!

Nothing is required for a visa but if you can get fee jabs from your GP that's a plus.

If you get everything needed for AOS recorded on your visa medical, you may not have to pay again to see a civil surgeon in the US, so that's a plus.

MMR two in your life. Got any childhood records?

Tdap - one must be within the last 10 years

Varicella- NO. Because you've had chickenpox. Make sure they mark your sheet Varicella History.

Flu- NO, not until Oct 1. Make sure they mark your sheet Not flu season

Do not leave the medical until you have checked the vaccination sheet they give you is filled out properly. Once it's sent off to the embassy, there's no fixing it later.

Also make sure you receive a page 2 (it's new) from Knightsbridge on your DS3025 copy, it'll say something about ''vaccinations being complete for US''.

And what did they check or leave blank on Section 2 of the other form DS-2054(?) that may be what is stopping people before USCIS bothers to leave ok at the vaccination sheet.
