No record of Vaccinations received as a child

I received all of my baby vaccinations as a child, including the MMR. However, as this was Australia in the 80s, record keeping was not the most important thing.

My question is, will Knightsbridge accept a blood test report that shows that I am immune to MMR as proof of my vaccination? Because trying to get my GP (or any other) to give me one is proving to be a challenge.

Yes. Read the details and acceptable tests in the Technical Instructions to Panel Physicians (Knightsbridge). http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/panel/vaccination-panel-technical-instructions.html

You will find it under the heading Laboratory Support. Note Tdap or Td is not supported. Get a shot. Also get a flu shot.

Other GPs gladly give a new MMR, so it's your doctor who is choosing this path. But he's doing what he feels is right, so can't argue with that. Or you can choose to pay for the MMR at the medical and be done with no question whether what you have is okay. It's only money. Did your doctor say he would charge for the immunity test?

In my hindsight of having been all the way from K1 petition to US citizenship, a £45 MMR shot is a drop in the bucket compared to how much you spend before you are done with immigration forever. This is to everybody in general and not to the OP. It is weird to you to pay for anything medical in the UK, but saving the hassle of dealing with a civil surgeon in the US is worth it. Your window of opportunity ends when the doctor at Knightsbridge sends your medical report to the embassy. Do whatever it takes to get complete on shots before your report is finalized.

I was fortunate in that I had no problems (and no costs) in getting my GP's surgery to give me the shots I needed last year. My childhood vaccinations were lost in the mists of time too . I'd concur with Nich-Nick and just get them done at Knightsbridge. You really don't want to pay to have it done in the US or discuss the differences between blood tests and an unequivocal got-jab-at-Knightsbridge when you have your AOS interview.

The blood test is free to see if I'm immune. It's not the money I'm worried about. It's more whether they'll accept it or just give me the shot there.

You can't get two MMR shots closer than 4 weeks apart. So if you get it at Knightsbridge, you will get the waiver excuse "insufficient time interval" for Dose 2. You're done as long as you also cover Tdap/Td with a shot, flu shot, and tell them you had chickenpox. If all of those are on your DS-3025 then USCIS considers you clear. They go by the fact that you were as up to date as possible when you attended the exam and allow the waivers noted. You never have to get second dose. Well except.... if your AOS takes a year, you could be sent back for a new medical exam and a review of your immunizations would reveal 4 weeks had passed so they could give you that second MMR.

If your GP doesn't want to give you the shot, see what the prices are at Boots, Tesco, etc...any place that advertises immunizations. You can price compare and pick the cheapest. But get it right before the medical so 4 weeks hasn't passed by medical date.

I will definitely get at least one MMR before or at my medical, and at this point I highly doubt 4 weeks will pass before I have my medical. I just wanted to be 100% sure that I wouldn't require the second MMR shot once I got to the US and I would have to pay the costs associated with a civil surgeon doing it (they are so freaking expensive!!).

Thank you so much for the input Nich! My GP should give me the shot if it comes back that I'm not immunized, so that will be free, which is glorious.

Unless it takes more than a year to get your green card, you will never need that second MMR. You may want to get it for your own health, but that is between you and your private doctor. USCIS is only interested in the first one.

I thought that was the deal, but I wanted to check to be absolutely sure. We will be applying for AOS as soon as possible after I arrive, so hopefully it won't take longer than a year.

I got mine done at boots because my doctors surgery wouldn't even let me pay for them there. It was a bit expensive but I am glad it's done with now and I don't have to worry about it.

I had my Td done at boots. I also had my Hep B but that was not for immigration purposes, it's because of the line of work I do. They do MMR there as well as a bunch of other travel immunizations.

Thanks for clarifying AMZJ I managed to get my TD and MMR booster done at my local practice, and my flu shot done at a local supermarket pharmacy.
