Documents provided (returned?) at consulate interview - Ciudad Juarez

Just a simple question for those who have attended their K1 interview at the Juarez consulate.

As we prepare for the interview, we see my fiancé must provide an original copy of his Mexican birth certificate. He has exactly one original copy. The website seems to indicate this will not be returned to him. Is this true?

We're confused, because we've read elsewhere that the "visa packet" that will be supplied after approval will contain all these documents, and will be returned to him after entering the USA at his point of arrival and after CIS processing on the day of arrival.

Thanks for you insight!

Eric

Hey. I can't answer your questions but good luck on your interview. My fiance should be going there in the next 5-8 months so can you please write your interview experience when you are approved? Thanks

I believe that your fiance should take the original birth certificate AND a copy. They will want to see the original but will return it to him and keep the copy. This is not based on my experience but my reading of the description available on the Ciudad Juarez Consolate website. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Go and get extras of the birth certificate. They do not return them. The sealed envelope with your case documentation inside is handed over when you enter the US. They do not give you back those documents. They are forwarded to the USCIS.

'The original civil documents will not be returned to the applicant/petitioner after the interview.'
